This week I’ve been seemingly making a very subconscious effort to wear ‘old’ / ‘not new’ clothes in my wardrobe. I don’t often do this as I usually get stuck in the rut of wearing only my new things repeatedly, until something new comes along and replaces it. Anyway, with this wishy washy weather I’ve been a bit more adventurous with rummaging through my seriously over stuffed wardrobe. As a result I’ve found some total golden oldies which I’ve re fallen in love with.
This maxi is a total cheapy from H&M a couple of years ago. I bought it for a flimsy summer dress but also one that could be worn to work too. Annoyingly its super see through, as were most the maxi’s on sale a couple of years ago, but I’ve simply worn a long top underneath to avoid any knicker flashing.

I decided to leave the dress really simple, no waist belt or long necklaces – I’d always previously have worn it with a waist belt, but over the last few years the ‘effortless’ look has appealed more and more to me. And let’s be honest it’s so comfy just having a loose dress with no clinging belts. I really like the denim shirt with the maxi, it gives the dress a cool, edgy vibe and I like the fact it covers you up a little more too. The final addition to the look was my fail safe H&M sandals (not that you can really see them). I own these in every colour available and basically live in them.
I’m so excited for this weekend, I also have Monday off so it’s going to be a really nice long relaxing one for me. Which to be honest, I REALLY need. Jase is in Barcelona with the boys for his birthday next weekend so we’re celebrating this weekend with a dinner out and cocktails tonight, special birthday lunch with his family Saturday and Batman Sunday night. No doubt we’ll also do a spot of shopping and coffee shop hopping too.
What do you think of my maxi outfit? How do you keep your wardrobe mixed up & make sure you wear old AND new clothes. Would love your tips.
