Country Bumpkin

As you may have guessed from my blog & my lifestyle posts, despite living and working in London in the ‘work had, play hard’ advertising industry, at heart i’m really a little country bumpkin. Home is south west England, and I’ve grown up with the country side on one side and the seaside on the other. Pretty much heaven if you ask me. I go home almost every weekend as I just love the feeling of being out the city and back in the tranquil, cosy country.So despite absolutely loving & living high street fashion & designer hand bags, when it comes to the weekend, I can’t wait to get on my wellies & fur gilet, ready for a country stroll & a big pub lunch. My mum is forever in the garden and our back door is adorned with probably every wellington boot produced by Hunter and Joules you could imagine (we all have matching welly bobs too – the mini Joules wellies). We have our own vegetable garden & love a cosy log fire, my house is like a real life sass & belle / kitsch heaven & if you picture ‘cute country life’ … well thats my home :)

My family, friends and I are all very big fans of the likes of Jack Wills, Joules & Hunter … mixed in with a touch of Mulberry of course (country chic perfection that), and so I thought I’d share my current wish list for my little city escape life as there are so many pieces i’m after, particularly from the Joules AW collection, so much so it’d be rude to not acknowledge them. Although If i’m honest my mum covets Joules more than anyone I know, I should really have done this post on her wardrobe ;)


Look 1: Chilled Rah
So perhaps the look you’d most immediately picture when you think of this country style, is the chilled out ‘rah’ look. A true fave of mine. There’s nothing better than donning a pair of skinnies or trackies, with a cosy top & hoody, some big wooly socks and a pair of Uggs or wellies. I know it’s not for everyone, but I promise once you try it, you won’t want to go back. Comfy & chic all in one. I love putting on this outfit when I’m taking a walk on the beach in the evening if we’re down in Cornwall or Devon, or even just for pottering around in the garden. 
One of my favourite things about Joules new collection is the fuchsia pink theme that runs throughout. These wellies, zipped hoody & cute horse print top are firm favourites of mine, all rocking the amazing pink colour scheme. I have to say I have pretty much have every possible colour of these fluffy socks and they are soooo cosy & the perfect wellie boot accompaniment, so this new colour combo is definitely a ‘yes please’ on my wish list. 

Look 2: Classic DarlingFirst off, there’s absolutely no denying that these welly boots are the most beautiful wellies you’ve ever seen. Navy blue which oozes class finished off with the cutest fuchsia pink bow … i am in love. Add a pair of skinny jeans and a cute print shirt and you have a classic country chic look. Print shirts are everywhere right now and I love that this Joules one is a really unique print on a quality cotton shirt. I’d roll up the sleeves and wear the shirt tucked into my jeans with tan leather belt in tow to really show it off. Perhaps one of my most lived in items when I’m back in the country side (apart from my wellies) is my gilets. Quilted gilets alongside a classic Barbour are every countryman’s essential partner, and I live in mine constantly. I have ‘the’ standard navy Jack Wills gilet but am absolutely loving this cream one Joules has brought out in their new collection. I’ve been lusting after a cream beetle since the moment I was born, and I can’t help but feel this gilet would be an absolutely perfect match :)What do you think of the country chic look?
