Dodging a trend is almost impossible, we’ll always cast an initial judgement, perhaps deem it not for us, or alternatively the best thing since sliced bread, but usually sooner or later we’ll all eventually come around to it. Think skinny jeans, back in the 90’s I couldn’t think of anything worse, midi dresses, originally for 80+ year olds, but now donned by the edgy, prints, usually kept for curtains in your great aunts house are now splashed across the most popular of high street fashion items. Neon, last seen by 80’s ravers now in every store you can imagine, LEATHER LEGGINGS, we all thought no one would wear them post Sandy strutted her stuff at the end of Grease, but oh no, check us out in our AA disco pants, reliving the 80’s hottest trend.
This leads me neatly to the cut out trend, something that back in 2004 we all giggled at in Mean Girls as teen princess Regina George had her top cruely cut out (albeit it then became popular – perhaps this is my point?). I never thought i’d opt to wear a dress that had my midriff on show, really, who new we’d all become so in love with these less than modest style of dresses, but guess what, we have. As much as we may have a view or opinion, I do feel that once popular culture or mass society embraces it, we do feel much more inclined to give it a bash ourselves. And well, that’s just what i’ve done here. A previous non converter, i’m now donning the cut out dress all over the show, and this latest cut out dress from InLoveWithFashion (courtesy of Krisp clothing) is in fact my second cut out dress. What would you know eh.

So whilst it takes a little guts to flash some flesh, I am very much growing to like this little trend. I’m stocking up and excited to prance around on holiday baring a little mid drift (hopefully tanned by this point). I wore this dress while home at the weekend, and left the styling fairly minimum, but I actually think this dress would look cool with a nice print kimono and some suede sandals on holiday, or alternatively a pair of converse & leather jacket for the weekend.
What do you think about this new cut out trend? How would you style this cut out dress?
