Sometimes you buy an item of clothing envisaging a very specific style and purpose for it, these shorts were ‘supposed’ to be teamed with uber tanned legs, a simple chiffon blouse and pretty necklace (bright colours to show off my gorgeous tan), summer sandals to emphasise my perfect tanned feet and pedi’d toes. So umm, yeah, one can dream. Thanks to the gloriously schizophrenic British summer time, I’ve had to give these shorts an alternative purpose and style.
In my pre spring/summer excitement I bought myself lots of pretty summer items to make for the most awesome summer & festival filled wardrobe, but to my dismay, they’re still sat in my wardrobe waiting for those sunshine fuelled outings. So in order to not waste these beauties I’ve become quite accustomed to adding a pair of tights to pretty much every outfit going at the moment.
. Warehouse Floral Shorts . Tosphop ACTON Boots . H&M Vest . Topshop Denim Shirt .
. Primark Necklace . Vintage Bag .
This outfit is what I wore on Sunday, I had a fairly relaxed day baking cakes for a dinner party at my friends that evening. I baked my (I say my, I stole it off my sister ha) Banana cake recipe (see recipe section) – it was so fun to make and came out super well, although not the best one to date.
These warehouse shorts were bought back in April as a little birthday treat to myself, well that’s the excuse I used at the time. I haven’t managed to get much use out of them since then as the weathers not been all that delightful. Having worn them with tights though this weekend I’ll definitely be wearing them a bit more now, come rain or shine. These boots were another gift to myself, I think I was celebrating 20% off at Topshop or something, again not worn them much (because they KILLED my feet the first time) but will defo be wearing them more now after falling back in love with them this weekend.
I teamed the shorts with a very simple vest (new from H&M) and my denim shirt, just to make the outfit a bit more casual.
How are you styling your summer wardrobe in this weather? Any tips?
