Every now and then I come across an item of clothing, a bag, or an accessory that I become obsessive about, to the point where by whatever means necessary, I MUST have it. I probably sound like a broken record as this probably happens to me on a weekly basis, haha, but today’s post features another of these items.
On a lunch break last week I casually strolled along the Longacre and happened to be pulled into H&M by some unearthly magnetic force (ahem), I actually went in trying to find my cream suede sandals in black (they were another recent obsession), or my cream beaded necklace (as you see in this post), in turquoise … again another recent obsession item. haha. Anyway, needless to say I got distracted and found these amazing collection mint denim shorts (annoyingly not online).
The H&M store by my work is magnificent, 3 floors, each dedicated to a ‘collection’ the top floor is always the special limited collections, the more high quality stuff. That’s where these gorg shorts happened to be, winking at me, ready for me to snap them up. As always is the case with ‘MUST HAVE’ items, they had none in a size 8, GOD DAMNIT. Anyway, I left deflated and spent the entire evening searching for them online and on eBay, to no prevail. In a moment of ‘hope’ I returned to H&M the next day, sprinting to the rail, and as if by a matter of fate … there they were, size 8, looking beautiful ready for my bootay to wear.
Funnily enough this entire outfit is made up of items that over the last 6 months I’ve become obsessed about – my mint zara jumper I picked up in Barcelona being one of these items which I just instantly fell for. These Deina boots are another, I now own them in black and tan (Which I appreciate is fairly ridiculous).
. Zara Mint Knit Jumper . H&M Mint Denim Shorts . Missguided Deina Boots .
. H&M Beaded Necklace . Topshop Leather Belt (old) .
So there it is … the shorts I just had to have. Weirdly they’re actually probably a little too short for me to where as an ‘every day’ item (and feel comfortable in). I have a rather big butt and so they’re a little skimpy around the butt cheek area – they’ll probably be a holiday live in item, or festival essential for me. But I will attempt to wear them on the weekends, especially when the sun rears it’s head again and I can tan these legs of mine. I always get conscious in short shorts, ‘are my legs stumpy in this’ haha.
On the topic of shorts I’ve been wanting to DIY myself some for AGES, I’ve found a few DIY posts, but am looking for some tips on the sort of jeans I should be looking to use. Most my old ones are still fairly ‘skinny’ style and so I wonder if I need a more boyfriend cut to get the loose denim short style I’m after. Send me any DIY links if you’ve done one. Here’s what I’m looking to create for myself – DIY & Dip Dye shorts (as featured on LA Blog).
What do you think of these denim shorts and this look? Don’t forget to send me any tips for DIY shorts too.
Also – you can still nominate me for the Cosmo blog awards (here) if you feel so inclined (I’D LOVE YOU FORVER), I’d come under Best Newcomer or New fashion blog :)
