I’m having a bit of a thing with pretty books at the moment, I’ve always loved a book (fiction or non) but in recent months my love and uptake of said books has increased at a serious pace. The purchasing of a Kindle has meant I have more fiction books than the local library stored up ready to go, but probably the more exciting and fun side of this book addiction is my frequent frivolous hauls of lifestyle, food & fashion books. I wrote a feature (you can read it here) a few months back about a few new books I’d bought and loved, but I haven’t quite stopped there. With the lure of amazons discounts versus the cost of books in my favourite home & living boutique stores, I can’t help but find a beautiful book, gawp at the £30 price tag and then pop on amazon to steal it for a significantly discounted price. It makes the whole thing all the more exciting, like sales hunting, finding something you love and then managing to hunt it down cheaper, I suppose that can be partly blamed for the sheer volume of these gorgeous books I now have decorating my house.

This months new purchases are actually slightly left of fashion, and I’ve gone all foodie and interiors on  it. After spotting and flicking through a couple of these books in my favourite store back in Winchester (The Hambledon – boutique home heaven seriously) I immediately placed myself a little order and am very chuffed with the goods.
First up: Creative Living London by Emily Wheeler. This was a book my sister spotted and shared with me knowing that I would just adore all the interior inspiration, beautiful pictures and hard back book jammed full with tips, tricks & aspirational home designs from our very own London’s finest homes. This is a very hefty hardback meaning it really is full to the brim with content. I’ve not made it through the entire book yet, but you don’t have to – this sort of book is one you can easily pick up, flick through, or go directly to a specific section that you’re interested in. Whether that be a specific village in London, a persons home or just a design idea like how to decorate a mantlepiece. I actually didn’t realise until I bought the book that Emily is a blogger and journalist, so it’s another inspirational tale of a blogger who’s published a fantastic book. You should give this book a go if you’re into home decor and want to be inspired by London’s finest abodes.
Keepsakes by Frances Hansen was a book a fell in love with from first look. This book sums up childhood, family love and fond memories to me. From the way the book is written, to the casual ‘diary’ style layout, to the paper the book is printed on, it screams family scrap book and I absolutely love it. This book is jam packed full of ‘homely’ recipes collected and collated from France’s experiences, travels, family and friends. It’s almost a food memoir making it one of the most unique cook books i’ve ever purchased. It stole my heart with it’s beautiful but simple content style … whilst it’s a cookbook, the book itself is fabulous just to look at from a pure imagery point of view too. I can’t wait to give her recipes a go, particularly the more exotic cuisine she’s picked up on her travels. A really beautiful book, fabulous for anyone who loves simple home cooking, art or simply wants to be inspired.
The final book today is called Tout Hache and if you like burgers, then you’re going to love this. Tout Hache, Meatballs, Tartar, Burgers I should expand, this book has every possible tasty minced or chopped meat recipe packed inside it. A book written in Paris by ‘Cafe Modern’ but inspired and encouraged by the burger boom spreading like wild fire from New Yorks Manhattan (which our very own London is bursting with too), it’s full of wonderful rich french recipes for all our favourite tasty American treats, but also some cool non meat recipes too. Burger loving friends would love this cookbook.

    Omg I’m exactly the same! Books are one of my favourite things to buy, especially “pretty” ones (with pretty spines that look great on a bookshelf!) I love home, photography, cooking and travel books! I love the look of that burger one! xx
