. WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU NEED A CHANGE .
There are always points in life where we may feel as if we’ve become a little stagnant, stopped moving in a direction or at a pace we wanted to, or equally just have found ourselves in a situation which no longer feels positive or productive. Firstly, I think this is totally normal, and just part and parcel with life, and also being ambitious, driven and passionate people. Secondly, it’s no bad thing, I think deciding or feeling like you need to make a change is the first step in moving your life in to a more positive trajectory, you’ve acknowledged and accepted something doesn’t feel quite right, and you’ve decided to do something about it!! Great … the big question of course is, what to do!
Well that’s where today’s post is here to help, giving you some top tips and advice for what to do when you need a change.
5 WAYS TO HELP YOU MAKE A POSITIVE CHANGE
#1 WHAT’S CAUSING THE FEELING
First things first, you need to understand what is currently driving that need for change. What is it you’re not happy, positive or liking in your current situation, what are the key things driving that want for change, is it work, your personal life, your emotions, your home set up? Have a really honest talk with yourself and identify the trigger. Once you’ve done this it’s much more simple to do something (the right thing) about it.
More often than not we may find ourselves thinking something is the issue, but in reality it maybe something else entirely. So first of all you really need to think about what it actually is that needs to change.
#2 MAKE A PLAN TO CHANGE IT
Once you’ve properly identified what’s causing that feeling and urge to make a change, you need to make a plan which will help you change it. The plan might be a big thing like moving country, changing jobs, leaving a partner, or it might just be a simple thing like adding some gym time into your week to boost your health and fitness or signing up to a new club or hobbie.
Either way, when you’ve identified the things that are causing you to feel unsettled, think about the things that would help resolve that feeling and make your situation feel better.
#3 START IMMEDIATELY
There’s no point tackling the issue head on, and then sitting back and doing nothing to change how you’re feeling. So regardless of how big or small the changes you’re thinking of making are, start immediately with some small, more easily implemented changes, so that you can already start to feel more positive and hopefully of things to come. In most circumstances it’s the small changes that will inevitably lead to bigger opportunities for change.

#4 GET A SUPPORT TEAM
There’s nothing better than having friends, family and colleagues around you to support you in life, and support you in those times of need. So whether it’s helping you make decisions, giving you advice from their own experience, or simply being a pair of ears while you talk yourself into a decision, having some people around you to help and take the load off your shoulders is key!
More often than not you’ll talk to your support team and before you know it you’ll have made the decision or got to the point yourself (talk it out is such a great trick), but even then it’s great to get other people’s opinions and help!
#5 EMBRACE IT
Even if you are actively seeking change, it can still give you that feeling of anxiety or nervousness, but change is a really brilliant thing and so you should embrace it with an open mind and a sense of optimism. It’ll make all the difference and If anything it’ll make you more open to exciting opportunities and offers … (if you want to know why, check out this post).
So there you have it, 5 things to do when you’re feeling like you need to make a change, from identifying the real cause, to putting an immediate plan into action. Change doesn’t have to be daunting, it can be really exciting, and a trigger to take your life into your own hands & do something with it that’ll make you happier, healthier & more content.
I’d love to know if you’ve found this post helpful, or if you have any other tips to add into the mix?

I really, whole-heartedly agree with all of these – especially the act now one. No time is better than the present to make a change, and with the right support and understanding anything is possible. x

Another great post with tips, Melissa!
I just want to add that these tips, which are really good- don’t get me wrong!, are not always applicable unfortunately.. I initially read this post because I want a change as well but the cause which makes me so unhappy (my health, I’m chronically ill) isn’t in my hands, it’s pretty much all in the hands of doctors and everybody/everything else in the medical world.. (Which completely sucks to be honest ’cause I really NEED a change -yes, crying over here- because it’s so difficult to be sick for over 6years and knowing there is nothing you can do about it except for hoping for a miracle and even then, I’ll always have problems with my health.. Sorry for the ramble but I do that when I get emotional and it was to make my point clear)
Anyway, your life tips and blog tips are the best, I save them all -yes also this one ;), you never know..- thank you for all your tips and please, keep on writing them! I’m pretty sure they help more people than you think!
PS : nothing in my reaction is meant to make you feel bad or something!!
