LFW is a funny time of year for me, instead of feeling mass excitement about the upcoming shows & Somerset House street style it actually kinda makes me feel down on myself. Not to turn this into a sob story, but having a full time career which is unrelated to fashion does mean I don’t get to spend my days wistfully walking around Somerset House snapping fabulous street style, and potentially even be snapped myself (if my look was worthy of course). I don’t have the time to source out tickets for shows & attend all the wonderful fashion events i’m invited to … and as a result I always feel a little bit like I miss out on the fun and games & somewhat important exposure that the season brings to individual bloggers. I find myself following the street style posts & watching previously ‘small’ or local bloggers grow into international superstars attending the hottest shows, hanging out with ‘famous’ fashion bloggers & sporting the latest Chanel Boy bag (which was probably gifted) … and it does make you feel a little jealous but most worryingly – hard on myself that I haven’t achieved the same success. That’s the disadvantage of being a perfectionist … always striving to be the best, but sometimes forgetting & not crediting how far you’ve even come.

MY OWN SOMERSET HOUSE
. MINT OVERSIZED COAT .
This weekend I debuted a new coat of mine (yes another), sadly this wasn’t at London Fashion Week, as despite being a Londoner I coincidentally fled the city for a weekend in the countryside back home in Winchester. Ironic, sure.
This new coat was a Valentines present from the lovely team over at Misguided, spoilt rotten right? I’ve become a little coat obsessed this season, it’s a new thing for me and I seem to be building up an enviable collection (even If i do say so myself). Jase is reaching the end of his tether rapidly as the coat closet is effectively a sartorial bomb. What can I say, there are lots of occasions for which one requires a different outerwear garment. The mint blue colour teamed with the knee length cut made this coat a winner for me.
. Missguided Boyfriend Coat £59.99 c/o . KG Serpent Boots £150 . Missguided Bag £14.99 . Zara Embroidered Skirt .
I teamed my new coat up with a couple of other new items on Saturday, my KG serpent boots which I finally treated myself to (if you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you’ll know I was eyeing these up for weeks) & this cute mock croc bag which was a bargain £14 from Missguided. The final piece was this very old Zara skirt which I customised in the summer (I dropped the hem), it’s a real oldie but a total favourite of mine. The blue embroidery went perfect with the mint blue fur look coat.
Anyway, enough of that. What do you think of this spring colour palette & my new coat & boots? Have you headed down to Fashion Week?

Honestly, I don’t care one jot about LFW. I love fashion, blogs and outfit photos, but catwalk shows and hanging around on the cobbles watching people not be able to walk in their heels is not for me.

I love the coat, and the whole outfit in fact! I’ll be eyeing it up on Misguided for sure. I’m completely new to blogging (my first week!!) so i can’t really relate yet but to me it seems you are a complete success and inspirational to newbies like me! Keep smiling :) Danielle x

I have seen pastel blue coats everywhere especially at LFW and I am won over I really like them! I went to LFW on the Friday and it was freezing and rainy I didn’t last very long and headed to the nearest coffee shop as was frozen to the bone and didn’t bother going back. It was no where near as glamorous as I imagined it would be unless you do have lots of different shows to go too.

That must be really annoying :/ hopefully in the future you’ll have a job that allows you to get involved in fashion week more and with this blog and the opportunities you’ve had from it on your CV, you could easily get into a fashion-related career (if you wanted to!)
I’ve been watching them set Milan up for FW and am very jealous that I don’t get to see any of it! Might have to go for a wander around the city anyway :)

Lovely coat and perfect for this horrible weather we’re having at the moment. I totally understand where you’re coming from with regards to missing out on LFW. The best thing would be to go during the weekend if you have a full time job so that way you don’t miss out completely. Like one of the girls said in the comments, I think LFW is worthwhile if you have loads of shows and events to attend. Hopefully you’ll get to go someday :)

Firstly i totally agree on the coat front, im a tad obsessed too! My collection keeps growing and i can’t stop investing in new coats. I think maybe oits because we’re british and we spend so very much of time in coats, that having nice ones makes the crappy weather slightly easier to contend with :)
Secondly that mint coat needs to be in my coat collection asap, haha!!
and lastly, i totally agree on the LFW week, its lovely to hear someones thoughts being exactly the same as my own and being so honest about it. I too get a little green with envy when i see fellow bloggers at LFW events and therefore getting ahead in the game, which is great for them, but not so great for us who are left behind sadly. I have a job thats not in fashion at all, and a son who takes up a lot of my time (of which i obviously don’t begrudge) but its hard seeing your ‘ dream job/dream situation’ being lived out by others.
I guess what will be will be and we have luck in other ways? I noticed you had that amazing John Lewis experience recently which was fabulous. You should look at what you have achieved without LFW and any other events and realise you have done so so well! Pat yourself on the back lovely!
