. GREY MARL MIDI DRESS .
Keeping it simple has a real air of sophistication about it I always think. I always admire the laid back, parisian chic, Acne style of dressing … it’s not something I do often, or well actually. But I do admire the look. Every now and then I try and keep things simple, through on a floppy hat, a casual dress and some comfy shoes … wishing that I may someday pull of that casual look!
I always think the midi dress is a real staple in the whole ‘effortless’ look stakes, they’re so comfy, easy to throw on and don’t need much effort at all. I live in this Topshop grey marl number when I just need an easy, low key, no thinking required outfit. I always fail in the ‘effortless’ look though as I do love to add a waist belt with it … this would get me an instant fail for being too fussy!
. Topshop Grey Marl Midi Dress . Office Boots £85 . Anthropologie Fedora . Vintage Satchel .
I wore this outfit the other week when I was pottering around, running errands and seeing friends. I love my Office boots and actually quite enjoy adding a chunky pair of ankle boots to an otherwise quite feminine outfit. I like the grungy edge it gives an outfit. My bag is also an essential weekend accessory for me, big enough to throw in my handbag necessities, but no fuss and easy wearing. My mum bought me this bag from a vintage shop in Cornwall for my birthday a couple of years ago, I use it all the time and it’s actually my go to festival bag!
The final touch is my fedora … probably the most basic element of a laid back parisian chic look right? I do love throwing on a little hat every now and then, especially when I’m having a bad hair day (i.e. today i look like i’ve borrowed Amanda Bynes wig). hats are a really great way of covering up a messy barnet!
What do you think of my casual weekend outfit? What do you wear for low key days out? Are you a fan of dresses and ankle boots?

I don’t know why, but I’ve never really been one to pair brown with grey but after looking at this outfit, I’ve come to realize that the right shades of brown and grey can look amazing together.
