Outfit

Going Round In Circles

May 2, 2013

For today’s outfit post I thought I’d share a new skirt of mine, which not only embraces the midi trend, but also monochrome and stripes too. Wowsa. Given the skirt packs a little punch I decided to opt for a fairly simple styling, and kept things easy with an all black look.

The skirt is a new number from the fashion brand Choies, which I have to say is a complete new fave of mine  purely down to the sheer volume of amazing clothes they sell. I’m currently eyeing up this number to treat myself to also – A bargain if you ask me (but my head is saying ‘YOU HAVE TOO MANY CLOTHES’). I seriously need a massive walk in wardrobe and 10 zillion hangers. It actually stresses me out sometimes.

. Choies Striped Pencil Skirt $36.99 c/o . Zara Black Tshirt . Marni Heels .
The skirt is a real fave of mine, after initially dabbling in the midi trend, I was a little skeptical as to weather the look was for me, but I’ve recently decided that as long as it’s fitted it’s actually not too bad.  More loose midi dresses or skirts tend to make me look like I weigh 40 stone. Anyway, I loved the fitted midi cut, and I was really drawn to the striped print too, but most of all it was the versatility of the skirt that sold me. Don’t hate me – I always talk about versatility. But seriously, having clothes that can be styled for work, after work, evenings out, weekends etc is so important to me.  I want to look nice for work but not have to have 2 separate wardrobes at the same time.
I’ve actually worn this skirt a lot lately (to work, and at the weekend) and have a few more outfits featuring it lined up. This outfit is actually what I wore on my birthday to work and then out for a smart Michelin dinner after (versatile, see?), but I’ve also styled it with a more fitted top for a slightly more riviera chic look (coming soon).
What do you think of my new skirt? Are you a fan of this laid back styling? How would you wear a midi skirt like this?

I wish I could pull off the midi look but I’m only 5ft2 and they make me look so silly and short. You look lovely though – you really suit it!
