Another summery outfit from me today, a very simple, chic, riviera style look perfect for my upcoming trip to Nice. As of tomorrow I’m jetting to Nice for 3 days of sun, sea and sand (well and some work too), I’m super excited for the trip and we have a couple of big evenings planned including a cocktail themed night on the penthouse of our hotel overlooking the Nice seafront, followed by the grand finale of a black tie ball on the final night of our trip. Most decadent. I’m still working on outfit choices, but I think this look would be great for a sunny evening drinking cocktails on the roof terrace …
I’m a big fan of navy dresses, and since picking up this one from Missguided I’ve rediscovered my underlying obsession with all things navy. I have a large volume of navy dresses (have you noticed?), I didn’t actually realise how many until i took a moment to stop and think. I actually don’t wear too much black, but instead seem to opt for deep nautical esque colours like Navy, Emerald Green and burgundy. When I think about it, I think (other than bright summer dresses) most my dress wardrobe is filled with navy items – smock dresses, body con, pinafores etc.
. Missguided Navy Dress . Anthropologie Fedora . H&M Gold Necklace & Bracelet .
. Zara Leopard Ankle Boots . Brit-Stitch Satchel .
What I really like about navy clothes is how chic and classic they look, especially when you style them with bold, block gold accessories. It makes for a wonderful nautical themed look, something you can imagine Yacht Darlings wearing for their little parades around the Mediterranean coast whilst sipping on chilled fizz and sunning themselves on their Yacht decks. Okay, I’m getting off track here, and starting to wish I was on a Yacht.
So yes, styling wise I was going for Yacht Chic (I’ve coined the term now), and opted for my fave gold accessories, a fedora (to keep the sun out my eyes, ahem), my fail safe leopard boots (which go perfectly with the navy dress I must say) and my little Brit-Stitch satchel (keeping things on the ‘casual’ side).
What do you think of this look? Are you a fan of navy and gold? What’s your go to colour?
