Despite the fact I’ve subconsciously been on a spending ban since my car & laptop broke and needed sorting (cue skintness), I actually had a mini spree this last week and picked up a few items quite spur of the moment. Thankfully, I don’t regret any of them and am actually rather chuffed with my purchases. I featured this grey marl top a couple of days ago, but styled as a dress, but I decided that actually it also works perfectly as a plain top teamed with high waist items. Teeing myself up nicely there to introduce my new high waist skirt … a bargain sale item picked up on my Zara splurge.
You’ll have seen in my post earlier in the week that I rather frivolously bought my dream Zara stud boots (Chloe dupe) and also picked up this lace skirt on a spontaneous online spree. I’d been eyeing the skirt up all summer, but never quite took the leap to purchase it. I think I was a little unsure how or if i’d wear it. Anyway, after seeing it reduced from £40 to £15, it was a no brainer. And what’s another £15 when you’re already placing a £120 order I hear you cry.
So I couldn’t have been more pleased with it. I was still a little unsure i’d like it on / it’d suit me / what i’d wear with it. But I instantly pulled this grey top on with it and loved it. Perhaps my favourite thing about it, despite it being an XS, it’s actually quite big, which means it works wonders for the ‘casual / effortless’ chic look. This skirt evoked absolutely no self-conscious feelings, which you often incur when wearing tight fitted mini skirts, in fact it’s the complete opposite. I even sprinted to the tube in it, it’s that loose and free fitting.
Also worth highlighting is my HOT NEW SHOES … how amazing are these bad boys. Sent to me by the wonderful wonderful Runway shoes, i’m absolutely stoked. These are sooo my type of shoe it’s unreal, mega high platform, nude faux suede & lace up. I’m going to be living in these shoes 24/7 I feel.
What do you think of my new mesh skirt & how I decided to style it? How would you wear it? Please feel free to leave love notes to my shoes below also ;)
