Oh how I long to be one of those girls, those girls who look just so darling in summer straw hats and floaty summer skirts. Well thanks to Primark, i’m making my first step in that direction. After a cheeky little shop on Saturday I picked up these gorgeous items – a navy and cream striped floaty skirt, a beautiful floppy summer hat and this gold angular styled necklace. A whole look, sunshine fit, for a humble £20.

I must say, the skirt is utterly unflattering on me in my opinion (accentuates ye old hips) but I do secretly like it a little, and it may just be one of those items I get used to. I had to get a UK6 as they had no 8’s left, so I shan’t be eating much food when I wear this outfit haha. When styling a big floaty skirt, I believe it requires no fussy detailed tops, simple is the trick, so i teamed it with this basic Tosphop vest. I love the floppy straw hat, it’s got a little gold chain wrapped around the rim and some sparkly bits woven in the straw – all very subtle but looks super cute. I’m also a huge fan of the short length statement necklace right now so this one was a fab find for me.
Having just said this skirt allows no room for feasting, I stupidly wore it Sunday when my sister hosted a gorgeous garden afternoon tea party for her 18th birthday.
It was just so pretty, we decorated the garden with all our kitsch accessories (we have so many collected), doused the table in beautiful flowers, baked the most scrumptious cakes (banana, coffee, cupcakes, brownies AND tarts) and knocked up the tastiest of savoury cakes. It really was incredible and the sun held out for her special day which was the cherry on the icing :) I love all these pictures and perhaps it will give you all some jubilee garden party inspiration.
I’m back in London now, but putting all these pictures up has certainly made me miss home (and all the cake).
What do you think of this girly summer look and the maxi skirt? Oh and of course … all the cake? mmmm.
