As you all well know, I’m absolutely no make up professional. Genuinely I’m actually a little useless at my makeup, I use good products & have the ambition to use them to their best, but typically just do it ‘my way’ instead. It’s really the base makeup i’m no good at, I just didn’t ever really learn as a teen how you’re meant to apply primer / foundation / concealer / powder et al as I never really had a need to. As an adult i’m unfortunately experiencing skin issues and rely on my concealer and foundation quite heavily now. I’m learning as I go, and have gradually built a really super collection of products – but the one thing I was always told growing up, was buy quality makeup, “It’s better for your skin, lasts well & really do perform at a better standard”.

Bobbi Knows
To that point my dad really introduced me to some great makeup brands as he’d always give me a palette set for Birthdays and Christmas and gradually helped me build my collection of really good quality makeup. He favoured Chanel & Bobbi Brown and so these two brands have naturally been favourites of mine since a young age. As i’ve got older i’ve also fallen madly in love with Benefit, Clinique & Mac too. So i’d say these 5 brands are my top picks.
So as a makeup novice, or more accurately a ‘face’ novice, I always focused on my eyes and the eyeshadow / eyeliner / mascara look. I absolutely love doing my eye makeup, and always wear a touch of eyeshadow (usually smokey) or a little bit of eyeliner and over the years i’ve built a really big collection of shadow palettes. Bobbi brown is a favourite of mine, as they offer really fab nude shades which make for an awesome smokey eye, their gel eyeliners are another must have of mine and so all in all i’m a big fan of their eye makeup collections.
When I saw on Kate’s blog that she’d purchased this new Twilight palette I couldn’t help but desperately want it myself too. The colours are ‘my colours’ down to an absolute T, I always like to layer a really subtly nude colour with a little shimmer on top and finish the look with a musky brown across the lid of my eye. This palette effectively has everything I need for this look all in one.
The palette was £48 and so for a good few weeks I resisted. It’s a lot of money to get your head around, particularly when you don’t need it, just simply want want want it. I then saw the product come on buyapowa, and in a moment of frivolity I decided to take the leap of faith and purchase it. I was instantly excited at the prospect of owning and moved past the guilt feeling quite quickly.
When it arrived I was quite surprised at how small it is, it’s a really thin package, which to be honest makes it quite perfect for carrying around in your makeup bag, but does make you think FOURTY EIGHT POUNDS, FOR THIS? haha. Anyway I embraced the size, like they say, all good things come in small packages ;)
. Bobbi Brown Twilight Package £48 .
The palette comes with 8 shades, 4 shimmers, 3 nudes and one dark brown. It also comes with a double ended makeup brush perfect for perfecting the smokey look. The dark brown is actually a shade I already have in another palette but also one I use almost on a daily basis. The nudes create a really strong base shade & last well, I like mixing the shimmers on top of this, although I must say they are VERY subtle. You really have to apply quite a bit of the shimmer to get a good glimmer across your lid. This is probabably the only element of this palette I wasn’t overly happy with, but admittedly the rest did make up for it.
Overall, I am really glad that I bought this. If you’re thinking of buying this, then I’d probably say go for it if you have the money to. It’s not something I’d suggest saving up especially for as I suspect there are other products and brands which can offer simmer colour tones but at a more affordable price, for example the Urban Decay palettes. But if you want a treat & you’re looking for quality, then this is your boy.
I’m sorry I don’t have a picture of the product on within this post, but I have been wearing this on a daily basis so pretty much most my outfit posts have me wearing this. My ‘Take 10’ post is probably the best blog to see the makeup in action.
Have you tried Bobbi Brown makeup or this Twilight package? What’s your favourite make up brands & do you favour the quality luxury end of the product spectrum?

I bought this palette at BB counter and I’m not impress with it, as the pigmentation of the glittery eyeshadows isn’t too great. I also agree the palette is so tiny! Wish they had a palette on display so I could swatch it. xo

I’m in the same boat as you. I never really learnt how to apply makeup and it was only as an adult that I really started to wear makeup so am a bit clueless when it comes to applying it. I’m also really scared of bright colours on my face and prefer to stick to natural tones – but this palette looks perfect for me.
