This outfit is what it says on the tin – up for debate? Now I originally put this outfit together on my bed, took an instagram snap and got lot’s of compliments. I then put it on went downstairs whereby my boyfriend declared “what are you doing in fancy dress?”. This was then followed by a long debate about the leather & denim combination (him thinking i’d totally lost my mind and wondering why anyone would read my style blog when I dress like this). In hindsight, the socks with this look are a definite NO no. But i’m still really not sure about the denim and leather. Is this okay?
In their own right the socks are super cute, and only £2 from Primark. I’ve been desperate to wear them and always admire other cool kids rocking knee high socks and skirts. I’ve tried and it’s clear this look is not for me.
The denim shirt as an all time fave & the leather skirt is my new pull&bear number. I do love this skirt and must make sure I wear it lots, as it’s going to be a key and easy wear item for Autumn.
So there you go, individually the items are fab (well I think so), but together i’m just really not sure if this works? Maybe it’s because the socks and skirt look just clearly isn’t my style, perhaps simply swapping to tights would make this look okay? Or am i delusional, and this is just wrong from head to toe haha?
Give me your thoughts guys, how would you wear this skirt for Autumn? And please give me outfit ideas which I can incorporate my cute new socks into without looking like a 7 year old school girl ;)
I love the leather and denim together, I think the socks aren’t right for this outfit. Maybe wear some tights instead? the socks are cute though just not with this outfit in my opinion! the rest I LOVE!

I would try it with opaque black tights (nicer for these chillier months anyway!) other than that I like the outfit!

While I do love the look I see where your coming from, try the outfit minus the socks and with tights instead, and maybe pair the socks with just a simple skater dress and winter boots! x
Love the mix of leather and denim, nothing wrong with that in my opinion. As for the socks, I quite like the look of tall socks with this outfit but maybe in black instead. :)
I know what you mean about knee high socks, they good on other people but I just don’t think they suit me. But I think they don’t suit this outfit because you’re wearing heels, think the socks would look great with flats :)

No, I really love the denim and the leather skirt together – I think they really work well together. I envy people who can wear knee high socks and still look amazing, I just look like I’m back in school, or pretending to be! x
I dont think this looks fancy dress atall, its lovely!!! I’m the same with knee high socks though, I tend to wear them over tights so they dont stand out so much, or under high boots like wellies or something so you can just see the top! x

I think swapping the socks for tights would be a great idea. Leather and denim definitely works though. It’s things like this that make me love personal style blogging – the amount of times I put on an outfit I wear fairly often only to have it photographed and realise I look god awful in it. Trial and error is a good thing!

I love the shirt with the skirt – I think it would look cute with black tights and ankle boots xx ps. I also have those socks but in navy and I still haven’t found a way to wear them, I just always feel silly!
I have a similar mindset where I really love this look on other people and think it looks amazingly girly on them but I feel like a bit of a dick when I try to pull it off – maybe because I’m too tall and the cutesy look doesn’t work on me! In my opinion I think this looks really cute on you!
As a short person, I can’t pull off the knee-high sock look, but I really wish I could! I agree with the consensus here; denim and leather look great together, especially on you. However I feel either bare legs (I’d personally freeze) or black opaque tights would tie the look together nicely.
