So i’m back in the real world, jet lagged to high hell and back and embracing my first day back at work. Ouch. I only have a couple of days before the weekend and I have a few things lined up so I’m looking forward to that – The XX on Friday night, Bath Christmas Markets & a night out with Jase and some of his friends.
In yesterdays blog post I promised I’d share a few outfits from my trip to NYC and here’s my first of the lot. This outfit was what I wore on my second full day and actually features 2 of my new NYC purchases from Anthropology. I abslutely love Anthropology and it’s actually where I spent the most money when I was out there, they have some seriously chic clothing and accessories and the most amazing home wear and kitsch decorations. It was still pretty expensive out there, but less than here in the UK so I made the most of that.
My first purchase was this camel coloured hat – I’ve never owned one of these before but absolutely fell in love with this the moment I saw it. It cost me $58 which is about £37 so it wasn’t cheap but well worth the pennies. I wore it out on one evening and loved it with this outfit for the day time too. The shorts are also Anthropologie, they cost £100 here in the UK, but I found them in the sale for $40 (about £25) which is an absolute bargain.
. Ahtropologie Hat ($58 or £48 in UK) & Shorts (sale $40 or £98 in UK). Lavish Alice Jumper (£31 c/o) . Zalando Boots (£100 c/o).
. Zara Blazer (£60) & Fur Gilet (£90) . All Saints top (£60 – not really visible) .
NYC was pretty nippy (although no where near as cold as it is here in the UK today) and so I had some extreme layers going on with this outfit. I wore my All Saints top with my Lavish Alice burgundy stud jumper over the shorts … then added my Zara blazer and fur gilet for some extra warmth. I absolutely loved the outfit and thought the hat went perfectly.
We spent the day walking around Greenwich Village, Grand Central and the New York Library and followed up a hard day walking with a few cocktails in the Standard Hotel (a lovely cocktail bar at the top of the Standard hotel). As the cocktail bar is pretty swish I ditched the jumper and shorts and wore my All Saints top as a dress with my blazer once we arrived – a pretty nifty transition I must say. I also added some of my new Chanel ROUGE ALLURE VELVET lipstick which I bought at the airport and LOVE.
I know a few of you are off to NYC this year and next and so I would definitely say if you’re looking for a nice treat then the Standard Hotel is a lovely bar to visit for a few cocktails. The bar is on the Penthouse with live music and views over Manhatten & the Hudson river … the toilets are all glass and so it’s quite a unique experience. It’s not cheap (it cost us about £70 for two cocktails each), but well worth a little trip :)
What do you think of my NYC outfit and my new purchases? Have you got a hat like this, how do you wear yours?

gorgeous outfits, adore your new hat, I think it would look so cool with a leather dress to make it more casual. I’m so desperate to go to New York and seeing your photos makes me want to go even more! Haha xx

I adore Anthropologie and made a beeline for it on my trip to NY, it’s certainly a little cheaper than here in the UK. Love your hat & those shorts were a brilliant bargain!

I LOVE the hat, it’s so nice. I’d like to be more of a hat wearer but sadly I don’t own a single one!
