After not shopping for what felt like a lifetime (realistically 3 weeks) I had a little spree the other weekend and one of the items I picked up was this gorgeous yellow cotton top. I was instantly drawn to the gorgeous buttercup yellow colourings, and after admiring the coat version for a while I thought I may treat myself to this cute top.
The shape of the top is actually really unflattering on me, as a girl with a waist and hips box cut tops should really be a written no go. But, everynow and then I think ‘feck it’, if I really want something and I feel good in it, why not just buck the trend. So I did just that. I actually left the top the first time round, but after 15 minutes ran back to Zara to buy it, and haven’t regretted it since.

The material of the top is really high quality making it quite a chic, classy little number. I love the yellow, it really makes the top perfect for spring and is a little something to add to my wardrobe. I’ve worn the top a couple of times already, but this is an outfit I wore to work last week. I opted for a simple skinny jean ensemble as I think given the cut of the top, you really need something simple and fitted on the bottom half. I added my Topshop sandals which went perfectly and felt like a ray of sunshine all day long.
I’d love to know how you’d style a top like this, particularly as it’s not the usual sort of cut I go for. Are you a fan of the cute spring yellow colour too?
I think i’d tuck it into my skater skirt or shorts for a cute summer look!

I don’t think it’s unflattering, I always think if you balance it with something fitted on the bottom it’s fine :) x

I love this top, I ummed and ahhed about buying it but decided it wasn’t quite right on my (rather manly) shoulders! I really wanted to wear it with denim cutoffs in the summer.

yellow really does look lovely on you :) I have the same ‘feck it’ moments.. such as trying on the super skinny joni jeans with VERY short legs.. knowing full well it doesn’t look good.. bought them anyways! Lisette Loves x
