. MAC MOISTURECOVER NC15 .
It’s been a while since I posted a beauty post, but as I always say, I only post them when I truly have something to say. As after all, I know nothing about makeup or beauty and really just stick to my staple products (Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser, Benefit Hoola, Mac Blush, Benefit They’re Real Mascara, Bobbi Brown Gel Liner and Bobbi Brown / Chanel eyeshadows). I’m not a big experimenter but every now and then I’ll need a replacement product or find a new product I need and so will expand my product repertoire and invest in something new … recently these products are City Block, Oil free LM tinted moisturiser and MAC select moisture cover! I’ll look to review them all in the coming months, but for today let’s talk MAC cover up.
I purchased this little cover up stick about 2 or 3 months ago and have been using it daily to help cover up red marks from bad skin. Having always had perfect skin up until about 2 years ago, I still find it very upsetting to get spots because of my pill (I’m on the POP pill due to being a migraine sufferer, but sadly the levels of progesterone have caused me to suffer from bad spots over the last year or so). I have been trying products endlessly to try and get them to disappear – Dermilogica has been my most successful, but I’m also using some prescribed cream now too. But it has to be said, with all these spot solutions the side effect is flaky dry skin, which means when you’re trying to cover up your blemishes, if you’re not careful you end up looking like a puff pastry.
At the recommendation of my dear friend Kat I decided to swap cover up products, going from Benefit Boi-ing to a moisture based MAC cover up stick (I also use a cheap natural collection one which is brilliant too). It may sound obvious, but making this simple swap from a dry concealer product to a moist cream stick product has helped my beauty regime considerably. Whilst Boi-ing is absolutely awesome for cover up, the dryness of the product just wasn’t working for my skin – I couldn’t blend it, it’d dry my skin and end up in blotchy and flaky makeup.
I’m now a huge fan of this MAC liquid based cover up stick, it applies super easily into my skin, keeps it moist and helps prevent any flaky and dry skin around the areas it’s applied. I use the colour NC15 which I think is basically a neutral tone and it’s great for my skin. The product costs around £15 but i’ve always been a believer in investing in quality skincare and makeup products – I find they have better efficacy, longer lasting, far better ingredients and generally produce a better effect. Having said that, the natural collection cover stick which I also use alongside this one costs £2.50 … it’s not so light and moisturising, but it’s still very effective and a total bargain :)
What products do you use for covering up blemishes or dark circles? Have you tried this MAC concealer, what did you think?
