LETS TALK ABOUT ZIPS

September 30, 2013

. WAREHOUSE LEATHER MINI .

Sometimes I’ll totally write off a trend … i’ll decide instantly it’s just not something for me. And that’ll be that. But there are occasions where I end up eating my hat, and end up changing my opinion. Zips at the front of garments is one of those trends.
When this trend initially popped up I thought it looked tarty, cheap and low quality. Snob over here. I really didn’t like it. I’ve forever been a fan of an exposed zip on the back of clothes, I have tons of dresses with a long exposed dress. But never before have I like a front exposed zip … let alone an over zealous volume of them.
But something seems to have happened recently … and i’m going back on my (opinionated) words. In the last month i’ve not only seen myself lusting after exposed zip items – if you saw my wish list HERE, you’ll have noticed two zip items, the tartan dress and the leather skirt from Zar – I’ve found myself buying them too.
This Warehouse skirt is something I picked for myself during my warehouse fashion shoot … when I first saw it I turned my head dismissively, but something magnetic happened during my shop and I just kept going back to it. I gave in and thought i’d try it on … and as fate would have it, I loved it. In that instant, my previous perceptions of cheap, tacky and tarty were washed away with a new perspective … chic, sophisticated, edgy.

Are there any trends you disliked at first but swiftly changed your mind? Do you like the exposed zip trend?

I was the same, I just didn’t like them!
Until I bought a leather skirt similar to the one you are wearing.
