A MOMENT OUT

March 5, 2014

. INNER ZEN .

Today’s post is a little different to the norm, I wasn’t enthused to blog today which is a real rarity for me, but rather than withhold from posting all together (and ruin my 2.5 year daily blogging streak) I thought i’d use today’s post as a little diary edit. It’s not something i’ve really done before, and If I have its usually been about my upcoming holidays (and the excitement i’m feeling). Unfortunately right now I have no holidays booked (although fingers crossed i’ll be off skiing by the end of March), this again is a real rarity for me, usually I like to travel every 6-8 weeks even if it’s a small trip – this is potentially part of the overall problem. I’m run down, really run down & currently have no exciting ‘breaks’ to look forward to or time to unwind & recuperate (my birthday is bank holiday easter weekend but unfortunately due to some important work deliverables, i’ll now be spending my 4 day birthday weekend working). I have mouth ulcers, i’m seriously tired (bags under my eyes, falling asleep on the sofa every day) my tummy is bad (I suffer from IBS & gluten intolerances), i’m super super busy at work, with high pressure deliverables over the next couple of months which is driving up my stress levels, I have a couple of family things in the back of my mind and my blog projects are starting to feel a bit overcommital.

It’s nothing major, and it’s not like my life is ever not stressful or demanding, but after having a low traffic day yesterday on my blog and losing two followers (which is by no means a biggy at all) I started to feel a bit disheartened & a bit hard on myself (largely drive by the fact i’m feeling a bit run down right now). This is a frequent thing for me, being hard on myself. I’m a perfectionist & strive to do the best in everything I do … which is great, but can become very hard and difficult to live up to when you’re juggling more than one thing. My career as a Communications Director, my blog which is technically a hobby but really like a small business, my family & friends who I want to spend time with, and Jase who I live with & want to be able to have more fun time with. The moral of the story for me is that it’s good to take a break and give yourself a little TLC every now and then – whether this be on holiday or not.

So rather than focus on getting out an all singing and dancing blog post out today, i’m using today’s post to vent (which helps me destress) and tonight to take a nice bath with candles and red wine & cook a lovely dinner for Jase and I. I’ll be back tomorrow in full swing :)

I’m so glad you posted this post! You’re a real motivation! I can’t believe you’ve posted for 2.5 years straight! I’m about two months in and you’re giving me a lot of motivation to keep going!!

Losing followers is the worst for motivation! Can completely relate to that run down feeling, fingers crossed you’ll be feeling revived soon – and I hope you get that holiday :) xx

Although we’re in different phases of our life (I’m in University), I think we can all agree that life can get ridiculously stressful and overwhelming when we don’t take a step back and just enjoy what’s happening. I think that since you realized this it’ll make a huge difference it will all start going uphill from here on out :). I can’t believe you’ve been posting daily for 2.5 years, that’s a huge accomplishment! Your content is great and I’m very glad I found your blog through the twitter chat; you may have lost a couple followers but you’ve gained some too. Enjoy your much needed relaxing time tonight!

Blogging every single day must be so difficult at times. Don’t be hard on yourself, your blog is amazing and you should be very proud and not beat yourself up if you don’t feel like posting once in a while.

The commitment you have to your lovely blog is wonderful, I hope daily life doesn’t become too stressful sweetie, I know what it’s like to have the bad tummy problems and it makes you feel so groggy and rubbish!

It’s great that your so committed to the blog! I used to be so militant about posting everyday. But there’s no way that I can keep up with it anymore! The breaks are definitely very nice and I find I have more to talk about when I come back from those breaks.

I hope things start to feel a little less stressful for you!

I hear you! It is good to take some time out and have some space for yourself to regroup. I love your photo by the way – house inspiration for me! Everyone I know feels a bit run down at the moment and as if everything is too much and too difficult. I hope you feel more balanced soon xx

I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling run down Hun – it’s something I can really relate to, especially the mouth ulcers and ibs. You’ve probably already tried these suggestions, but my GP prescribed a mouth wash for my ulcers, which really helped (Corsodyl) and for my ibs I find peppermint can help settle my stomach (you can get peppermint water or oil, but peppermint tea is also good). Hope some TLC helps though and you’re feeling brighter soon.
