. 3 LIFESTYLE READS .
It’s been a while since I shared my favourite reads, but back in 2014 I did a couple of book club style posts and really enjoyed writing them! Whilst my dedication to book reading has wavered over the last 6 months (blame the severe lack of free time) my book buying hasn’t! I’ve always been a lover of books, from novels of course but lately even more so into lifestyle and food books. My lounge alcoves all full to the brim with all my favourites, and this Winter i’ve only been adding to them! I’ve got a fair few to share, so I decided to make this latest series a two parter, today a few new lifestyle titles and next week on to the grub (and i’ve got some good ones to share)!
But lets start off with the more female lifestyle titles which have been filling my limited ‘down time’ hours! Eat Pretty, Berlin Street Style & Cecilia Aherns new novel ‘The Year I Met You’!
. EAT PRETTY – JOLENE HART .
First Up, Eat Pretty!
The book isn’t one to pick up on a whim to have a flick through, nor is it one to go to for a quick recipe every now and then, if you want to experience and feel the true affects of the ‘Eat Pretty’ lifestyle then this is a book to study & one to use a guide as you embrace the lifestyle change and embark on a healthier life! I for one plan to give this book a little time, dedicate some serious hours to re-reading the content, and hopefully looking to use the tips & advice featured throughout to adapt my diet to reap a few benefits which would genuinely change my life for the better (I suffer from Gluten intolerance & IBS, which is usually very stress triggered, so a lifestyle tweak like this could really aid me)! I haven’t embarked on the new lifestyle yet, but i’ll report back as I do & we’ll see whether the Eat Pretty guide to life works for me!
. BERLIN STREET STYLE – ANGELIKA TASCHEN .
The second book on the agenda is Berlin Street Style, a easy read, inspirational little ‘scrap book’ written by Angelika Taschen. If you remember from one of my book clubs a while back, I was raving madly about the Parisian version of this book ‘Paris Street Style’, since reading this book (and loving the content, light read style & fab imagery) I was really keen to read the Berlin equivalent which seemed to hit the stores early last year. One of the reasons I love these books so much is that they’re pretty, they’re pretty to look at, pretty on your shelves & pretty to read. I love a book filled with quality images, beautiful illustrations & a layout which keeps you engaged & interested. These books certainly deliver on that! My interest is less about the relative city & how to dress in that specific style, I just find it super interesting to see the varying looks & ensembles detailed within the books plus of course absorb all the tips of places to visit in each destination. From shopping hot spots, to vintage guides these books are jam packed with information & secrets! I just can’t wait for more of these … Scandinavian Style, NYC Style, London Style! They’re fab easy read books and also would make a good gift for a friend who’s interested in fashion or equally heading to Berlin (or Paris) for a little city break!
. THE YEAR I MET YOU – CECELIA AHERN .
The final book is something a little different to the first two, as it’s actually a novel! I don’t often talk about novels on here, usually because I read so many & quickly forget which book was which (does that happen to you?), but the reason I wanted to share this book is because it’s actually written by one of my favourite Chic lit authors, Cecelia Ahern. I actually own all of her books and each time a new one comes out I quickly buy it and read it within a matter of hours! Cecelia Ahern (along with Jill Mansell actually) is one of my favourite chic lit authors, her books are enjoyable to read, detailed to the point where you truly believe the characters and story, and generally just a great read! I’m only half way through this book (The Year I Met You) and it’s already set to be another fab read. So if you’re looking for something easy to kick away the January blues, or a little read to take on your commute then I’d recommend grabbing yourself a copy of this one, Cecelia never fails to deliver the perfect girly novel! As well as this little number, i’d also recommend Cecelia’s novel from last year ‘How To Fall In Love, Jill Mansells novel released earlier in 2014, ‘The Unpredictable Consequences of Falling In Love’ and Jo Jo Moyes ‘Me Before You’, all great chic its which will make January a little easier to cope with!

Lovely pictures!
I’ve got Eat Pretty and really agree with your thoughts – it is all about small changes. I have been trying to eat bett6er for my skin and this book has given me some really great ideas.
I am a big fan of an easy-read chick lit too – my current favourite author is Karen Swan – if you love Jill Mansell and Cecilia then I think you will like her books too.
