Guess what, today’s outfit features yet another denim dress. I’m sorry, my blog is becoming a sartorial broken record isn’t it? Although, in fairness, this dress is slightly different to the last. More of a typical denim number, 70’s inspired and quite the basic wear really. Secondly, it’s really not my fault that this infatuation has occurred, we all know Alexa Chung is responsible, there’s no denying her AC x AG denim collection has literally sent the fashion world shit crazy for denim! This denim dress was another number I picked up from Topshop on my mini spree, it’s actually quite a thin denim dress, and since purchasing it, i’ve found another number which really does tick my boxes a little more than this particular one … this utility denim shirt dress really is perfect.

Having said all that, it really is time that I started to be a little more careful with my pennies, spending a little more sensibly and cutting back on my frequent spontaneous purchases. Whilst I love to treat myself to a new dress every now and then, I really should start to be a little more selective and rather than buy 4 of 5 things each month, save up and buy myself one perfect item! It’s something I said i’d do as part of my New Years resolutions, and is something that i’ve been encouraged back into by TSB’s latest campaign encouraging sensible and responsible saving and spending (even more pertinent given the ‘Budgets’ have just been announced & we’re all starting to think about where our pennies are going)! I also really want to buy my own house soon, and so cutting back on a few of my naughty treats will soon add up and really help me get my foot on the property ladder (I hope). I definitely won’t be cutting out all spending (that would just be mean), but it’s just a concerted effort to be a little more careful and pragmatic with my purchases, even a few small cuts will probably save me £200 a month!
Are you a frivolous shopper like me, or are you a little more sensible with your spending? I’d love to hear how you manage shopping versus saving (I need all the tips I can get)!

I’ve definitely become more sensible as I’m saving to buy a house too. But every now and again you have to have a mini splurge just to keep you going…there’s no harm in it :)
