THE MOST POPULAR TRENDS & HOW I STYLED THEM
My style is constantly evolving, and whilst I can’t say I follow trends religiously, I of course do find myself embracing a few key trends each season. As 2015 came to an end I found myself reflecting on my style, my outfit features and of course the key trends which I embraced last year … and there were definitely some key styles which I found myself wearing, featuring and styling over and over again. So today I thought i’d share those with you, the most popular sartorial trends, and my favourite looks and styling. If anything I hope it gives you a little inspiration of how you could style certain pieces, or simply just a good reflection of some of the looks that have been featured on mediamarmalade.com this last year.

MOM JEANS
MOM jeans have been one of my biggest discoveries in 2015, and a trend I simply love to hate. Entirely unflattering on me, and in fact receive terrible feedback from friends and family, yet a garment I can’t help but love, so much so that I just wanted to give it a go for myself. I love the laid back styling of the mom jeans, they look perfect with converse & a tee, or with stilettos & an oversized shirt. They’ve been one of my favourite trends this year, and one that I suspect will continue to be popular into 2016 (i’ve ordered a black pair to kick start the year).

SUEDE
Okay tough call, maybe suede has been my favourite trend of the last year. It’s certainly been my most worn at the least. I’m not a huge fan of the 70’s style wise, but if there is one trend they did do well it’s suede. I’ve totally embraced suede into my wardrobe this last year, in a whole variety of guises too, my favourite being the a-line suede mini skirt. A total staple. For me, suede is best styled in a relaxed, bohemian manner.
SHOP
STRIPES
Who’d have know my love for stripes would have grown so much this year. Of course the breton has always been a staple, but stripe knits, stripe trousers and stripe dresses are quite another thing. This year i’ve really embraced stripes in a way that i’ve never previously done. My favourite stripes are probably my zara cropped leg striped trousers. The perfect summer pantaloon.
SHOP
CROPPED LEG
Cropped legs are another trend which in 2015 has become a firm favourite. A trend which I genuinely had never really considered before but one that through trial and error i have grown to love, and embrace as part of my day to day style. Whether it’s a midi length skirt or dress, or simply a cropped leg trouser, one way or another i’ve fed it into my daily style this year. Usually dressed down, and casually ensembled.
SHOP
THE LONG COAT
Along with most of the fashion lovers out there, this year has been all about the full length coat. And what a celebrated revival. The long coat has to be the chicest most Parisian / Scandi inspired wardrobe addition in 2015 … perfect for almost every attire, the most laid back boyfriend jean ensemble, to the most glamorous of evening attires. The full length coat has meant a total coat cupboard overhaul in my little home. Gone are the coats of yesteryear … my coat cupboard is now full of long length wool coats, sleeveless full length jackets, and of course a below the knee gilet (for fabulous sakes).
SHOP
KNIT WEAR
Knitwear is always a wardrobe essential so I can’t say that 2015 has been the knit wear resurgence, but what I can say is that this year my knitwear collection has not only grown in size, but also in variety too. The knitted dress has been my most noticeable 2015 discovery, and COS has certainly delivered on all my oversized knitwear dress dreams.
SHOP
FINISHING TOUCHES
And finally. Accessories. I’ve always been a huge lover of accessories, for me they complete, if not make a look, and best of all, it doesn’t matter how you feel about yourself, you’ll always look fabulous in a great investment accessory. 2015 for me has been all about my favourite and newest designer leathers (Celine Nano & Phillip Lim Pashli largely), quality leather loafers (R&B close cuts are my newest additions) and of course the more ‘it’ items, my fedora (which never leaves my head), my backpack (saves so many commuter woes), my collection of ankle boots (this years favourites are the Marley & Magnificent booties) and of course the infamous Olympus Pen EPL7 & 45mm F1.8 Lens.
However you look and however you feel, accessories will never let you down.

And there you have it, a super long post full of all my favourite seasonal trends, and my most popular ways to style them. I can’t believe how long it’s taken me to create this post, so I really hope you enjoyed it, and if anything felt inspired to go and give something a go. Fashion should be fun, and so experimenting is key. If you want more inspiration then check out all my outfit posts or even my outfit inspiration pinterest board.

Love this post! I truly appreciate the care and time you put into it. It’s funny how things really do come back again, isn’t it? Remember when SNL mocked the mom jeans and we all thought they were hilarious? Now Topshop is selling them in bulk. My suede and denim button-down skirts are suddenly back in style as well – making me pretty darn glad I hung onto two of them. I think right now, everything is classic and somewhat minimal. Great post!

Aww thank you for your sweet words Divya! Made me smile ? Please do check out the other posts as well and comment with your thoughts. If you try out these debloating foods, let me know which one worked best for you. Also I did a post on a 3 day detox diet which was more like a kickstart to a healthier lifestyle. You can find that on my EAT section if you are interested. Hope to hear from you again and have a lovely week. Big hug. Best, Ishika
