MY OWN VERSION OF MONOCHROME: A NAVY EDIT

So it’s been a few years of attempting to embrace the much admired monochrome styling. I love the look, the effortless simplicity, the understated colour palette and the somewhat scandi vibe it comes with. I genuinely do love it. But it seems that no matter how hard I try to embrace my inner scandi, it seems my hair and eye colour are about as far as I can get. You see, whilst I love black and white, I just don’t seem to innately get drawn to it when I’m shopping or updating my wardrobe. More than that, I’m not even sure the colour tones are my most flattering (gasp). What I’ve started to discover is that Navy seems to be my own monochrome. When I’m shopping for capsule items, investing in statement pieces (like my new Jigsaw coat & Whistles suede skirt), it’s the navy edits which really sell me.

And actually, I’m cool with that.

This outfit is a classic example of my personal (attempt) take on monochrome and simplicity. In reality it’s neither monochrome or simple, and that is my point exactly. My style is a little too fussy, tailored & feminine to truly pull off the masculine monochrome looks I admire so much. So for the time being, Pinterest will be as close as I come to a truly monochrome style. The reality of my wardrobe will forever be navy toned and off white pairings, A line fit & more tailored than planned. But for me, it works.
