. GETTING READY FOR BLOGGING IN 2015 .
Well with the hoorah of Christmas over, and the focus now on the new year and maximising holiday days before the return to work on the 5th January, I thought it was about time I started thinking about 2015 and get focussed on my blog plan!
We’re all used to setting new years resolutions for ourselves (hit the gym, take up a hobby, have more ‘me time’ etc etc) but I for one this year will be setting a few resolutions for my blog too. Think of it less as fad January diets, more of an annual business plan!
When it comes to blogging in 2015 & getting prepared for the year ahead, I think there are 5 key things to think about …
–
. SET NEW GOALS .
–
A new year means new goals, now is the time to take a fresh think about your blog, your content, your ambition. Be ambitious and reignite some motivation by setting yourself some new targets to work towards in the year ahead. As always with goal setting, make them realistic, measurable & most importantly achievable, but do push yourself too! Your goals should be personal and relevant to your blog, and could be anything from blogging regularly, to starting a new content series, to spending more time engaging with readers or PR’s. Once you’ve set your goals you can make yourself a mini business plan to get you there, pop over and read this post for tips on making your own ‘blog plan’!
–
. MAKE A CONTENT PLAN .
–
If there’s one thing a bit of time off work allows for, it’s getting organised and prepped. I’ll be using the time to try and get ahead, and will be starting work on my 2015 content plan! Having a content plan really helps you keep on top of things, always have a fresh flow of ideas for future posts & of course allows you to pre-plan and prep which is the key to successful regular blogging!
Your content plan could be super top line at this stage (content themes like style posts, monthly recipes & weekly beauty tips) to super detailed by day or by week (Monday a Winter wear style post, Tuesday a mince pie recipe etc)! I usually opt for the super detailed option & work to a week ahead of myself, using the weekend to prepare my content plan & prep the imagery and editorial!
This year I think i’m going to think a little more top line too, thinking up some new, broader content themes I’d like to start writing about!
–
. BUY A DIARY .
–
If you’ve been reading my ‘blog tips’ posts for a while now you’ll know how much I value a diary or a note pad to get myself organised & ensure i’m on top of my schedule! It’s a super simple and relatively ‘old fashioned’ way of doing things, but having a diary is a great way for documenting your schedule, plans & goals!
–
. PREPARE YOUR WORK SPACE .
–
There’s nothing like a tidy desk to get you motivated to crack on with some work, it’s the #1 procrastination excuse, but if you’re anything like me, you want a nice tidy, organised & ‘prepared’ work space before you can get on with any actual work!
Well now is the time, get out your duster, get a box for rubbish & get tidying! Whether it’s tidying up a cluttered office, organising your desk space, or creating yourself a little blogging corner, nows the time to do it! I myself have set up a new little HQ which has got me super motivated & ready for blogging in 2015!
–
. GET MOTIVATED & EXCITED .
–
Blogging is meant to be fun, a hobby, something you love, so don’t lose sight of this! Hopefully a break over the festive period will have given you a chance to get re-excited about your blog & what you want to do in the new year! Setting yourself new goals, preparing your work space & thinking up some fab content ideas are all real triggers in kick starting your motivation & most importantly your excitement and passion for your little www dot.
I for one am really excited about what’s to come & now more than ever want to really push my blog and make something of all my efforts & energy I channel into it! You never know, 2015 might be the year?

Hello :)
I love your blog so much, it’s gorgeous and SO informative. I was just wondering if you could recommend anyone who does web development and works on blogger blogs? There’s some tweaks I want done that I don’t think I can do without the help of someone in the know!
Hope you had a fab Christmas and New Year x

I’ve been setting some content goals and planning ahead (something I’ve never done before). 2015 is the first year since starting my blog that I’m actually going to have adequate time to devote to blogging, something I’m very excited about!

I’ve got so many goals in my head, it’s getting a little bit busy there (in my head I mean). I guess I have to sit down (I am sitting down now, I just need to sit down with full commitment) and probably write down 5 most important goals for myself. Let’s keep is manageable! Thanks for the tips! Will you be shocked and offended if I use one or two of your ideas? ;)

It is so important to have an organized and in-depth plan. Otherwise, it can be very overwhelming and chaotic. Therefore, my goal is to keep a a well thought out schedule and be more strategic. I would also like to start thinking about ways to monetize my blog.

I totally agree. I started blogging 15 months ago and took it more seriously in July. I needed a diary/planner to keep on top of things and my social media activities. So one day I sat down and created My Planner for 2015. It’s for bloggers like me. It’s A5 daily planner with focus on online marketing, blogging schedule, planning blog posts and topics and so much more which I don’t want to bore you with here as it might sound like a sales pitch or something. But the point is I can now record everything, look back, analyse what worked and what didn’t all in one place. Since then I am much calmer in a way. I know what I’m doing if it makes sense. I think that if you want to take your blog more seriously and eventually turn it into business you have almost treat it like a business from the start. Have a vision, goal and plan of action. x kb

Call me crazy, but I just can’t work from a blog content calendar. It takes all the creativity out of blogging for me. My style is more ‘as it comes to me’ but I do try to stick to a routine posting schedule. Predictability is a nice thing sometimes!
