. BENEFIT THEY’RE REAL .
Today’s post is actually about a new product I’ve come across recently, and have fallen in love with. Benefit’s ‘They’re Real’ mascara. I’ve always been a huge fan of benefit, which if you read my blog you’ll know by now, I use a lot of their products including Hoola, Hervana, Bad Gal, Boi-ing, Creaseless creams, benetint and also porefessionals, I’ve tried many of the kits and currently am using the ‘how to look the best at everything’. Basically I love the products, the quality, brand and style of Benefit and so it’s no surprise I’ve fallen for yet another of their products.
I actually purchased the ‘They’re Real’ mascara on my flight to skiing, it was already duty free and so saved about £3.50 off the retail price but even better the company were offering 20% off purchases. Kaaa-CHING. I think I paid about £12.50 for this usually £18.50 mascara, which is a total bargain and definitely was not worth saying no too.
Anyway, I was after a new mascara anyway as mine had run out and I always flick between Bad Gal lash, Clinique’s mascara as well as a Bourjois one – I tend to buy whichever I come across first or whichever has the best deal. Knowing that I love bad gal I thought it was definitely worth trying this new one.
After using this for 2 weeks, I can confirm I am very very impressed. I’m not used to using a plastic application brush, I tend to prefer the bristle ones, however this one after getting used to the new feeling, actually works very well. The plastic application means your lashes are very evenly separated and don’t become ‘clumpy’ or blocked out. The other great thing I’ve noticed is actually how dark the mascara is, it truly is jet black which instantly adds a lengthening effect to your eye lashes, and I don’t know how it works, but it really does make your lashes look longer. It’s quite miraculous.
. Benefit They’re Real RRP £18.50 (i paid £12.50 at the airport, boom) .
Having used a very wide range of mascara’s in my time, and also having been very loyal to my 4 aforementioned products, this new mascara has actually come in and taken prime position as no.1 mascara. I appreciate the cost is significant, but actually, the results and quality reflect this. It creates a far more dramatic and impactful mascara look than other mascaras, so this would be perfect for evenings out or days when you want to give your make-up a kick. It’s not the most natural mascara – I would say Clinique wins in the subtle but effective results, and so I will definitely keep this for my day to day / holiday mascara, but I think it’s nice to have different products and looks for different events, so ‘They’re Real’ will definitely be a go to product for me.
The only downside of ‘They’re Real’, which is also a bonus too, is that it doesn’t budge. Once applied this mascara will last you ALL day, and I mean all day, all night and all the next day, and will not look a slight bit different. In fact, I even think it looks better as the day goes on, as your lashes become more relaxed, but still uber long and curled. The downside of this is of course it’s a total bitch to get off. I use Clinique makeup remover which usually does a stirling job, but I have to use a good 2 /3 pads to get my mascara off when I use ‘They’re Real’. Not really too much of an issue given how good it looks, and it’s worth this little bit of hassle to have a perfect lasting lash look.
Have you tried Benefit’s They’re Real mascara – how did you find it? What’s your favourite mascara at the moment?

Great review of the They’re Real mascara. I’ve actually tried this before and I didn’t get on with it too well but a lot of my friends love it. I find mascaras a tough one to call as so many I love, my friends and others don’t.

I got this for Christmas (as well as their brightening face primer which i love!) and i have to say i’m not a fan! it left my lashes clumpy, dry and feeling really really heavy!!! :( I’m so annoyed that it doesn’t work for me as the effect is amazing! I actually prefer Rimmel’s ‘Scandaleyes’ Mascara it does almost the same job but is so lightweight on my lashes and doesn’t make them feel heavy or dry at all! :)
This is a really great review tho Melissa :)
You could be a Benefit Spokesperson!! lol :P

I’ve heard about this mascara, never really tried it though. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend Diorshow’s Blackout. Honestly, you will never go back- it’s pure genius in a bottle.

I love this mascara! This has to be THE best mascara I have ever tried! I also use the clinique ‘take the day off’ makeup remover. I do kind of have the same problem but I would never let it put me off buying it! I LOVE IT!
Hope you had a nice holiday

Wow I can’t believe it lasts so well! I think this will have to be added to my ever growing wishlist as a ‘one day’ purchase – along with Bad Gal!

Am I the only person that didn’t get on with this stuff? Maybe my lashes are long enough already but this was so wet and took so long to dry that unless i sat with my eyes closed for a minute, just blinking would mean I had mascara all around my eyes transferring from the end of my lashes! Haha, and because of the amazing non-budgerinos, it made my eyelashes feel really crispy, and heavy!! The colour is amazing though, and its definitely lengthening! Just not for me :(
