So one of the best ways to be comfortable and cosy is to nick your boyfriend (or male friends) clothes. There’s just something about wearing oversized boys clothes that just looks really cool, effortless and actually rather chic. For example, the boyfriend jean look is just so chic despite the fact you’re technically wearing jeans that are a) way too big, b) the wrong cut, c) BOYS. But there’s no denying it – it actually works.
One of my favourite bloggers is Sincerely Jules and I think she’s one person that really works the boyfriend look. Whether it be a big boys shirt, some rough cut boyfriend jeans or a big oversized sweater. I always love the look, but other than nicking jase’s joggers and hoodies for cosy weekends, i’ve never dabbled in actually BUYING boys clothes or deliberately seeking them out in my looks.
That’s until now. Forget the easy stuff (guys hoodies), I decided it was time to actually work one of my favourite mens fashion items the girly way. I love checked shirts, particularly a good lumberjack style shirt. Cult clothing are a brand that excel in this style of clothing, I love their array of girls clothes, let alone the mens sections. They have the best checked shirt selection in the market (and sell the best brands for it, like Superdry) and so it was the perfect brand for me to work with when embracing mens wear properly.
. Superdry Shirt C/O Cult Clothing – Mens XS . Topshop Leather Trousers . Converse High Tops .
This shirt is a Superdry number from the Mens Superdry shirt section (obviously), and I just chose the smallest size possible (as they naturally are much larger anyway). The red and navy check drew me in instantly and I love the farmer esque style of it. I always think boyfriend styling must be simple and very casual and so I wore the shirt with my leather trousers and a simple black t-shirt. Oh AND my new high top converse. I picked these up in NYC for $45 … about £28 so a real bargain. I think the outfit worked perfectly, and lets not forget the best perk of all – how COMFY mens clothes are.
What do you think of my boyfriend look styling & my new Superdry shirt from Cult clothing? Do you dabble in boyfriend styling?
