Outfit

Let’s Talk Evening Wear …

January 9, 2013

I’ve been meaning to share this outfit, well specifically this dress, with you all for ages now. I actually got the dress before Christmas when the market was a flutter with all things glitz and glam and we had a zillion parties to get dolled up for. Now Christmas and New Years have sadly been and gone and we’re fast approaching blue Monday and the depressing January blues, dress talk seems to die down. However today I am going to buck the trend, because my January so far is most definitely not any of these things and in fact has been a fab continuation of festivities.
As you’ll know from my blog / twitter / Facebook / Instagram I am away skiing at the moment, and whilst that does mean ski gear & panda eyes, when it comes to the evenings, there’s every opportunity to get dressed up. Particularly on a Wednesday which is when Chalet hosts get the night off = night out for us. I’ve been to Val D’isere every year since I was about 8 years old and so this place is a bit like a second home. Setting aside the world class skiing, infamous drinking houses (Dicks Tea Bar, The Morris etc) & beautiful setting, Val D’isere is also especially good at food. Whether that be a top notch bratwrust & sauerkraut dish at The Tavern D’Alsace, or some 5* mountain lunch at Le Signal, or a Michelin star dinner at L’atelier D’Edmond – you are guaranteed VERY good quality food.
Anyway – today is Wednesday which means we’re heading out for dinner tonight and we’re lucky enough to be heading to L’atelier D’Edmond for some extremely fine cuisine & delicious wine – what makes this most interesting is that we have to get dressed up for the occasion. Hooray.
. AX Paris Leather Peplum Dress (c/o) . Accessorize Gold Belt . Miss Selfridge Clutch Bag .

So here is my outfit pour le soir. I got given this dress for my second AX Paris guest blog and really love it. I’ve always been impressed with AX Paris dresses and this one has been yet another favourite of mine – Incorporating both leather and peplum it’s pretty much AW all over, but whilst it features two of the seasons hottest trends it does so in a really wearable way making it a perfect party or evening dress that you’ll look great but feel comfortable in.

The dress is perfect for dinner out, styled with my new warehouse suede biker coat (styled here), and some pretty jewellery. The peplum is also handy as it will cover any food babies that may develop during the evenings gluttony.

What do you think of this leather peplum dress? Are you a fan of the peplum style that’s overtaken our wardrobes this winter? What are you doing to keep your January up beat?

Love this dress, I’ve been a massive fan of peplum this season for the exact reason you mentioned – hiding a tum after over indulging! I’m fending off the January blues by sticking to one of my aims for the new year – being grateful for everything I have and being more positive :)

Still soo jealous of your ski trip!

This dress is so gorgeous! I have a similar one from H&M and it’s definitely my go-to LBD. It incorporates all the A/W trends I loved.
