I’m renowned among my friends for having absolutely no colour coordination, now I do feel I have got better over the last 5 years, but still this label hasn’t left me. And it’s not without cause, as a teen I had a penchant for combining colours that really require a treaty to be separated. Anyway, i’m telling you this now, as I’m pretty sure the below outfit has a bit of a colouring faux pas, but you know what, to hell with it, I liked it.
This outfit is super casual (and boring?) but I wanted to share with you a simple weekend look of mine, for when I’m pottering the house and doing nothing much but chilling out. Also I wanted to share it on my blog as it features a new item of mine, my new Keds.
Now as a 16 year old I had the BIGGEST, now I mean locking yourself away for days BIG, obsession with the OC. Marisa Cooper was like my idol and I related to her wayward troubled ways. Anyway, outside of this she, as her real life person Mischa Barton (pre getting ‘messed up’) was the face of Keds, now we may think celeb endorsement doesn’t effect us, but I beg to differ. On some subconscious level it does (and not necessarily in a good way if the brand get’s it wrong), and ever since seeing Mischa Barton rocking these shoes, appearing to live the life of a cool person in the sunny state of California with a fly boyf on her side, I’ve wanted a pair.
. Zara Skinny Jeans . Lavish Alice Skull Top (c/o) . Keds £30 (c/o) .
Finally the time has come for me to own some. YAY. I was inspired to pick red as Taylor Swift has just done a collaboration with the brand and her range has a red pair with the wording ‘red’ on them. These weren’t out when I ordered mine, but I still thought the red made a nice change from my white converse and also would look cool with my denim skinnies.
Clearly red does through a little challenge into the mix, in that you then have to be careful what colours you wear them with. But, well, I chose burgundy. I’m pretty sure most schools of thought would give me a big X and a sweeping red ERROR line across this. But hey ho, i’m crossing boundaries!
Ironically IF these colours actually do go with each other, that would be funny because a) it proves I do have no idea about colour coordination and b) I’m trending it without even knowing it.
What do you think of this casual look and my new Keds? What would you wear a simple pair of Keds with? And of course – what colours does red go with?

I love that jumper, I want one but they’re sold out! Red is tricky, there isn’t a lot it goes with! I’m not very colour coordinated either though! x

I like to put red shoes with black and white, say black skinnies, white blouse and black cardi/blazer with a red lip and nails :)

I’m like the queen of clashing colours, so I’m not really the bext person to ask about what red does or does not go with.
I like the Keds, but never really have an instance to wear this kind of shoe.

I’m always clashing colours, I think sometimes people worry about it too much – my mums forever saying she can’t wear things together when I don’t see any problem! I love your keds, I had some years ago when I was about 14 but they’re long gone now! xx
