Outfit

One Fine Day

August 13, 2012

Todays post is a little different to my normal outfit posts as it’s thrown in with a heavy douse of ‘life’ too. Yesterday my family and I went down to Mudeford which is about 30 minutes drive away and a beautiful little beach town on the south coast. One of the best things about living in the south is having lots of very cute tiny hidden beaches on our doorstep to go and escape to at the weekend. Some family friends had hired a gorgeous beach hut, right on the beach for the summer and so my sister has been basically living down there all summer, this weekend we all travelled down, and made our way on the little train to the Mudeford spit Island (a little tiny island just off the main beach town), where we spent the entire day lapping up the gorgeous weather (it must have its own microclimate), eating food, swimming in the sea and getting henna tattoos.

. H&M Shorts (old) . Converse . Topshop Frill Socks . Topshop Grey Tunic .
. Gina Tricot Leopard Bralet .

My outfit pour le jour was super super casual, some very old rustic H&M shorts. These used to be high waist but now are pretty much hip shorts, teamed with my loose grey marl tunic from Topshop & some trusty converse. I forgot to pack a bikini but luckily managed to borrow one for my dip in the sea. I’ve actually worn this outfit quite a few times recently as its so comfy & makes a really easy ‘summer’ outfit for days when you’re lounging about with a picnic.
The beach huts here are just adorable, they’re smaller than a caravan but bigger than a standard beach hut, the majority have a cute little lounge, kitchen area with stairs up to a mezzanine sleeping area. You wouldn’t believe how much is squeezed in there, they’re gorgeous. Most have decking out the front & shared washing facilities.
Since going down, i’m desperate for a week away with my friends in one of these, or even better one to own for my family. But sadly these beauts are mega bucks. Between £125,000 – £175,000 to buy (yes I know, CRAZY), or around £800 a week to hire, it’s certainly ‘glamping’ but I really would say it’s well worth it. Everyone knows each other, it’s beach & waterspouts by day & BBQs on the beach watching the sunset by evening, beautiful walks and it’s quite literally heavenly.
I don’t usually add instagram pictures to my outfit posts but my camera battery ran out so I ended up catching the evening entertainment by phone. As it was my little sisters friends birthday, they’d hired a henna artist to come for a few hours and decorate us. Despite not being 13, I managed to get a slot for myself amongst my sister and her friends to get a gorgeous design on my hand. I absolutely love it, and it’s developed so well & looks very pretty.
All in all, an amazing day & I got to experience Britain at it’s best. I will be heading back to this beach hut & secret island off the beach a lot more in the future. The evening was finished off perfectly with arriving home just in time to watch the closing ceremony, which was in my opinion, FREAKIN AWESOME. Danny Boyle had that down to a T, and I thought the whole thing was fantastic. I’m genuinely gutted the Olympics are now over, kinda, here’s to the Paralympics.
What do you think of my casual beach look & my idealic day out at the seaside? Where’s your favourite little getaways for a weekend day trip?
