A week or so ago I attended the Missguided blogger event in London (in the venue where The Kings Speech was filmed in fact), and not only was the event fab because I got to see all my blogging pals and the new SS13 collection, it was also super cool as we got to customise some Missguided items for our own wardrobe too …
I have some bizarre obsession with midi dresses at the moment (I’ve become a big fan of below the knee dresses*) and so this red dress grabbed my attention immediately. In fact, when we got to style up a model at the event I dressed her in basically this exact outfit. I loved the look so much that when we got the opportunity to pick an item to customise, there was no doubt that this was what I was going for.
. Missguided DIY’d Midi Dress . Topshop Fedora & Leather Jacket . Mango Pumps .
I decided on some pretty simple customisation, as a) I am super impatient, and b) I didn’t want to over do it and ruin the dress. My tipple of choice was gold studs and I decided to customise the sleeves of the dress to give it a subtle edge. I really like how the dress looks with the studded sleeves, and I like that it’s not too bold and blingy, the DIY is quite subtle which is in keeping with my usual style.
I wore this outfit out in Bath on the Easter weekend (when the sun reared his little head), and opted for simple styling. This was the first time I got to wear my Topshop fedora and loved it paired with my leather jacket. For an evening look I would have added some heeled ankle boots, but as it was a day time thing my mango Gala Gonzalez pumps finished the look.
What do you think of my customised red midi dress? How would you customise a simple midi like this? Do you like the styling of the look too?

What a beaut of a midi Mel, I love the colour and think you’ve customised this to perfection – anything more would have been OTT as the colour does all the talking.
