You’ve Got The Technique

March 21, 2012

Revolutionary, it’s a huge claim I know, but oh my, it really has revolutionised my makeup. So as you’ll know by now I am shocking at all things makeup. I mean, I really have no clue, botch job galore. Don’t get me wrong, I have good, high quality makeup, just seemingly no ability in applying it nicely ha. Okay, maybe a tad harsh, but i’m no pro that’s for sure. Anyway, I got a £10 voucher for Xmas for Boots and decided it was probably about time I took action on all these beauty blog foundation tips I’ve been listening to. So I acted. Everyone’s been raving about the brand Real Techniques, and I’m about to join the trend …
So I went into Boots at the weekend with the intention of buying the ‘Stippling’ or ‘Buffer’ brush, had absolutely no idea what either of these meant or what they looked like, but I rolled up ready to spend. Unfortunately for me they had neither of these brushes left in stock (clearly popular), but they did have this ‘foundation brush’, which given I was after a foundation brush seemed spot on. It was a smaller brush tip than I’d planned for, I guess I wanted a bigger brush so it was ‘easier’ and quicker to apply my foundation (like I said, no clue, this may not even be the case).
My other option was a set of Real Technique brushes which included the Buffer brush but it said it was for ‘mineral foundation’ which I found out is not liquid (Duh!) like I use. So I opted out. Turns out this set is pretty awesome, and this brush was THE buffer brush i’d been told to hunt down anyway. So I probably should have just got the set instead. Maybe that’ll be next on my hit list.
So despite coming home with a slightly different brush than I’d initially planned for, my god this brush has totally revolutionised my makeup. Having used this brush, my skin looked so much healthier and more ‘flawless’, it made sure I left no ‘bald’ patches, and really easily helped me blend in all my foundation. I actually found that it covered all my imperfections so much more efficiently too compared to when I would just apply my cover up / foundation with my fingers. I even used a little Benefit brush I have for my cover up – Yes, check me out indeed. So this product has got my thumbs up, and for a mere £9.99 it’s an absolute no brainer. I’ll definitely be buying more from the range. I’m going to keep watching makeup tutorials too as they are so helpful and I’m learning loads of ace little tips :)
Have you used Real Techniques? Do you have any tutorials on them, or can you recommend any other brushes from the range?

I have a foundation brush that I don’t really care for. Maybe it’s time to try something different.

I own all of the brushes bar this one and the starter kit and have to say the buffing brush is by far the best brush i have ever used to apply liquid foundation. I originally started with the stippling brush which is equally as amazing but now tend to split between the 2 favouring the stippling brush for cream products etc and applying primer which it does fantastically. Given the quality of all their brushes I have no doubt this is just as good.
