The sun is shining, the weather is sweet. What a lovely way to start the weekend with a glorious beaming sun on a Saturday bank holiday morning. I’m feeling perky as I’m all done with work & getting in the holiday mood. I spent a lovely evening drinking lots of wine and catching up with friends last night & today will be popping to the shops with my sisters and boyfriend to get my mumma her birthday present (i hope your not reading mum!) and also pick me up some holiday essentials.
This is an outfit I wore to work last week, very simple, super comfy & actually a new one for me. The skirt is new and i’ve been meaning to get myself a black maxi for absolutely ages, but never got round to getting one. When I was sent this lovely one from Krisp Clothing … i felt complete haha. It’s actually meant to sit on your hips, and I did like it like this, but i’m such a creature of habit that I immediately pulled it up, added a belt and wore it as a waist skirt haha. It did mean the skirt was then a midi, but I thought it looked quite cool.
. Krisp Clothing Maxi Skirt £14 (C/O) . Urban Outfitters Tunic (old) . Marni Heels .
I think the main reason I decided to ‘hoik’ it up to my waist was because I wasn’t quite sure what sort of top to wear with it if it was on my hips. That sounds silly but I genuinely had a mental block. I think a nice fitted top would have looked nice but I was having a bloated belly day and so didn’t want to wear that, and post that initial idea i was totally lost for thoughts. So to that point … inspire me people.
How would you wear a maxi skirt that sits on your hips, a wardrobe staple yet it’s completely thrown me? Would love to hear your ideas.
Also, don’t forget my sunglasses giveaway closes tomorrow so you get your entries in pronto – here.

I think i prefer it as a midi skirt as it means we can see those beautiful shoes! Too nice to be hidden!

It looks nice as a midi! I think slim maxi skirts look nice with a thin slouchy jumper and converse. But maybe thats just me :) x

I’ve tried many maxi skirts and none of them seem to look right one me, so I gave up, tried a midi and loved it. I wear mine with either a simple Grandad style shirt or a vest top :)

Love your daily posts :) xxxx

Lovely style, been spotting your looks on WIWT :) Not sure if you are aware, but I thought I would let you know. Your images take a really long time to load, so you have to wait a while to see your post. Think its because you are saving as png rather than a jpeg. xx

I wear fitted peplum tops with hip riding maxi skirts :)
The peplum frill just gives it another dimention and if you’re having a bloated belly day, covers it quite well :)
But this skirt look amazing on you, and you rock the Midi look.

I’m not a fan of maxi whether its skirts or dress purely cos I thing it will probably dwarf me but this look had me thinking twice because you bloody wear it well Mel. It simple yet chic.
