Festive Frocks

November 11, 2012

So, Christmas party season is fast approaching (yay) and it’s definitely time to start thinking about festive frocks and Christmas party attire (well a good excuse anyway). I always love Christmas as it provides us with the perfect reason to get a brand spanking new outfit and play dress up! Now it can be a little bewildering hitting the shops for Christmas party wear, but this year I’ll be keeping a look out for jewel tones, heavy embellishments and luxe fabrics which are definite A/W must haves.

So getting in the festive spirit, here’s some inspiration so you can wear something a little more festive than your Little Black number at your Christmas party this year. Obviously all incorporating my fave trends for Winter.
Peplum’s
This cut is very flattering for all shapes and sizes. It draws attention to the smallest part of your waist and flares out creating the illusion of an even smaller waist (what more could we possibly want). Picking a dress in luxe fabrics such as lace, brocade or silk will make sure you’re super on trend too. As the peplum is a great statement piece, I’d keep it simple and accessorise lightly with a great pair of (killer) heels and a clutch bag.
Studs
Studded detailing is a great way to add Christmas sparkle and glamour to your look (plus I am just utterly obsessed with them generally, so any excuse really). They may seem a little daunting, but don’t be afraid to wear them as they provide an interesting and edgy twist to any outfit. Studded detailing on everything from dresses to shoes to bags can make a great statement pieces and really lift your look.
Embellishments
Since its Christmas it’s certainly time to add some sparkle to your wardrobe. It’s also a great way to make sure that all eyes are on you at any party that you go to! It can be quite easy to get over excited where sequins are concerned dressing yourself head to toe, so I always think teaming your statement sequins with more neutral accessories give the maximum (but also not overstated) impact.
What do you think of these 3 trends? Do you have any fave party dresses that you are eyeing up for Christmas this year?
