Long John

Hold up, you’re not going mad, I really have posted a picture of myself in long johns. I’m breaking outfit post boundaries here, oh yes, I really am flashing my undergarments to the world. But with dual reasons I promise, well actually 3 rationalising factors. No1 – it’s freakin cold out, No2 – I’m a skier, No3 Uniqlo have released a new range which we really all should just take a moment to check out.
So I mentioned I am a skier, I am, I’ve skied since I was a wee young lass young, I mean like basically forever. As a teen I took the hobby a little further and started slalom racing too, I kept this up for a few years, but when college and uni hit, skiing went back to a more fun activity opposed to serious sport, albeit we take our ski trips seriously with lots of adventures and off piste exploration, not to mention some serious skill offs between my dad and I. But now I ski a couple of times a year, and think of Val D’isere as a second home.
Okay there’s a reason I’m giving you my life story … I am also renowned, throughout friends, boyfriend and family as always being cold, and I mean like blue cold, goose bumps, shivers, blue lips, dead fingers, like really cold. So quite clearly I struggle when I ski … and that’s where long johns and thermal tee’s come in (see, got there in the end). Thermals are a skier’s essential garments and a secret we keep to ourselves and parade around in winter months whilst you silly old folk who wear layers and layers freeze your butts off wondering how we’re just so warm.
So these lovely thermals here are a fab new acquirement of mine, both from Uniqlo, they are 100% more than what they appear.
So Uniqlo have recently launched a new range called HEATTECH, designed for every day clothing, but using many clever bewildering technologies that ensure we are kept cosy and warm too. Yes, it is a miracle, fashionable and warm. So the techy bit – they’ve increased the rayon content of the fabric which allows for more moisture retention, basically locking in and retaining warmth. But fear not, despite my excitement that this is going to keep me uber cosy this January when I’m skiing, the new range is actually designed for everyday wear, not just for the slopes. So you’ll find casual tunics, gorgeous hats and scarves, pretty shifts & even jeans and trousers. It’s quite the revolution.

I am massively impressed with the collection, it’s definitely stepped outside the practical box and paid attention to fashion and design too … there’s plenty of cute pieces which I have my eye on. Perhaps my total favourites from the range are the accessories – gorgeous fur ear muffs, fur stoles, cute Christmas print snoods & beanies and beautiful coral hats and long glamorous gloves for the more decadent of us out there. It’s a really nice accessories collection, with the obvious added benefit of being made with super clever warming technology – yes please.

    As a skier myself I totally agree that thermals are a must! I’m going to Canada and NYC over Christmas and I think I’ll be digging them out then as well, it’s gonna be chilly!
