… Overload

November 8, 2012

This post is exactly what it says on the tin – an overload. I feel like i’ve not stopped recently, i’ve been so busy what with work, life, blog, social events and just general stuff that I’ve not really had a chance to stop, breathe and recap. But keeping to my Thursday routine, I thought it was about time i took hold, and shared a few cool things I’ve been getting up to in the last week (aside from work that is).

So the weekend before last Jase and I were lucky enough to having an evening out courtesy of Ladbrokes. It was a fab evening and we took the opportunity to go and see the new Bond Film (yay). As the film viewings were mega booked up as it was the opening weekend we booked into a late screening and went out for dinner before hand. We had the most delicious meal at Zizzi’s which completely took us both by suprise. Now I don’t mean to be a food snob here, but I am a huge foodie, and living in london and working in the industry I do, I often eat in the best restaurants in the UK on a weekly basis (big perk), so it’s not often that i’ll head to a chain restaurant for an evening out. But I couldn’t have been more impressed, for £50 Jase and I gorged on 3 tapas starters – Prawns, Aubergine & Meatballs (all of which were seriously tasty), enjoyed a topping filled pizza each (mine was half prawns, half fiery sausage) AND had a caraffe of Rioja. For £50 I was so totally impressed and the food really was delicious.
But now on to the important bit, the Bond film. What can I say, a true British gem and an absolute must see. I was lucky enough to have Ladbrokes fund our tickets and popcorn too, so it was a big treat to go. I don’t want to say too much and spoil the film for those of you who havent seen it yet (WHAT ARE YOU DOING?), but I thoroughly enjoyed it and 100% agree that it’s the best Bond yet. The plot and production is so very British, and the location shots really do celebrate our dear old country. I think it was a perfect way to celebrate 50 years of Bond & the film will certainly go down in history (not merely for the opening weeks sales – which broke all-time records in case you didn’t know). I’ll leave this on one little teaser / cliff hanger, and that’s … I really can’t believe the press kept the ending under wraps ;)
Enjoy x
Okay so don’t shoot me, but I was also super lucky enough to be 1 of 6 bloggers who got to attend an awesome WIWT event last Thursday with Ministry of Waxing & Circus. I’ve met Poppy (who runs WIWT) a couple of times now, the first time when I got to go to the Richard Branson party with her, and I was so grateful to be invited along to this event too. Now i’ve never had a wax before, and given the night was themed around waxing I really had to grow some balls / drink a lot of wine to brace myself.
The Ministry of Waxing was completely awesome, tucked away in Covent Garden’s floral street (conveniently right near my office) it’s a true west end gem of a location. The staff there were super friendly and I felt absolutely at ease being there. I decided to go all out with the waxing and put all my dignity behind me.  I was given the iconic Ministry of Waxing monkey to squeeze to death when the pain got too much, but generally (and particularly when looking back) it really wasn’t that bad. There were ZERO embarrassing positions (so I really don’t know where my friends go when they have to get on all 4’s looking like a dog going for a wee), the wax itself stung (of course) but was absolutely not excruciatingly painful like some reports i’ve heard from friends. They actually use an oil (to stop the wax pulling your skin) and a hot wax to make for a really efficient painless experience. But the best thing of all, to celebrate the season, the wax was a ginger bread wax … so it literally smelt like you were laying in a room of Christmas-ness. heaven. Anyway – I can’t recommend it there enough, and definitely a recommendation for the novice waxers out there too.

The night was followed by champers in Circus, where we all got to catch up, talk blog and oggle over muscly men dangling from the sealing – really not bad. The last picture is signage to the rest of my night … ahem, 4am, ahem Groucho, amen partying with Sheridan Smith & Blue. Ahem. HUNGOVER.

If you’re still reading – Bravo. I seem to have verbal diarrhea right now. But anyway, the last few snaps are from my weekend in Bristol with Jase. We had a super casual weekend, spent baking, drinking toffee nut lattes and eating too much food. Oh and I saw Ben Howard but no photo’s i’m afraid – he was amazing though :)
So that’s it, you’ve made it. Congratulations. Post over :)
Have you seen Skyfall yet, what did you think? I’d love to hear all your thoughts on waxing and whether you have any salons you recommend or if you’ve tried Ministry of waxing too?

PS: I’m pleased to announce the winner of my Giveaway – Jo Caldwell. I’ll be in touch shortly with details on your prize!

Oh gosh, it really does sound like you’ve been busy! I’m DYING to go and see the new Bond film, hopefully this weekend! I’m glad you enjoyed it though. The event you attended sounds fun..if not a little painful! Think I’m too much of a wimp to go for a wax!

I love the Skyfall and I love Adele’s song! I always always always plan to go to the Ministry of Waxing (I even know where the place you went to is), but I am a chicken and never actually do it! ;) X

Not seen skyfall yet! I work at the cinema whilst I’m ay uni (fun times) so I get to see it for free, woohoo! Its been so busy though, our cinema in particular, which is the ‘head’ of the chain apparently, had the highest attendance since 2004 (so, lord of the rings then)? haha, its been so crazy, people were turning up 2 hours before the film started and they all sold out from 10am each day – I hate busy cinemas so I’ve been waiting – Probably see it next week! Exciting!

Loving the ladbrokes night btw, I’ve got a night in to play with <3 x
