Outfit

The Woman In Black

June 4, 2013

Following from yesterdays soft spring dress outfit of the day, todays outfit post is a little more edgy and in fact all black. A little bit of a contrast, but a reflection of my diverse wardrobe I’d say. This is an outfit I wore the other weekend for an anniversary date night in London … cocktails at Aqua and dinner at The Riding House Cafe. I think it’s the perfect date night outfit.

Luckily Jase also thought it was the perfect date night outfit. I think this outfit is super sleek and simple, but looks really sophisticated and kinda sexy with the leather skirt. The pretty sandals and casual tee are a soft contradiction against the leather pencil skirt … but overall it creates one of my favourite ‘evening out’ looks. It’s definitely not OTT and is an outfit I feel really comfortable in, which is clearly one of the most important things.
. H&M Real Leather Skirt £60 . Zara Black Tee . Topshop Sandals £50 .
I styled the outfit with very subtle jewellery, including my Baume & Mercier mother of pearl watch which my dad got me for my 18th birthday (a whole 7 years ago on my first trip to NYC) and my gold triangle necklace. I wore my tan sandals and love the whole tan vs black leather thang’ … they give the outfit a slightly more laid back feel which I like.
This outfit is a real favourite of mine, and I’ve even worn it to work recently too. The pencil skirt is a great length for day and night, and really maintains your modesty (thank goodness, no butts sneaking out of here). I think the fact it’s real leather makes it a little more classy and helps make outfits sophisticated and by no means slutty.
What do you think of my date night outfit? Are you a fan of leather pencil skirts? How would you wear yours?

I adore this outfit Mel! I’m never usually one for all black outfits but I love how you’ve mixed up the textures and added in tan shoes for contrast.

Hope you had a fabulous date night,
      Hannah
