QUALITY NOT QUANTITY

August 6, 2013

. 2ND DAY .

I’m a big believer in the old ‘quality not quantity’ phrase, and whilst I can’t deny that I have a superbly large wardrobe and collection of clothes, shoes and bags … I have to say they’re largely all quality items that i’ve ‘invested’ in. Long gone are the days of clothes shop binging for me, for the last few years I’ve really upped my spend and much prefer the higher quality and less mass produced items you get in return.

Clothes to me are a real treat, and are items I really treasure and admire. I buy clothes because I love the look of them, the style, design or cut. When I saw this 2nd Day top in a boutique store in Clifton Village bristol i was immediately drawn to it. The quality of the t-shirt is undeniable and I love the subtle print and colour tones, the fit is perfect, and i really loved how it felt when I put it on. I have to say, I did feel that £65 for a top was a lot, but i’d be lying if I said it wasn’t worth the the money.

. 2nd Day Tee £65 . H&M Shorts . Topshop Sandals . Anthropologie Hat .

The great thing about more one off, quality items like this, are that they tend to be wardrobe staples, classics, not a fashionista’s ‘it’ item. That’s part of the reason I feel they’re worth the money … they’re a wardrobe investment piece, no matter how basic the item. This little tee will never go out of fashion and i’ve already found so many ways to wear it.

In this crazy jeckle and hyde weather, a casual long sleeve tee with a pair of denim shorts is a great way of adapting to the hot / cold spikes we keep seeing. I added a little hat with the look too, i love how laid back a hat can make an outfit look. This Anthropologie fedora is another ‘investment’ piece of mine, it was c. £50 ish I think but I’ve not regretted buying it once and i’ve never seen anyone else in it either :)

Are you a believer in investing in quality items or are you more thrifty with your purchasing? What do you think of this laid back look?

Although I want to go for quantity to have a lot of new things, quality always seems to win! Cute outfit.

I agree for quality over quantity – I do try and buy staple clothes that I will always need and I also buy things that I can layer for winter and wear on their own for summer so they get their full wear! But I also agree that you can treat yourself too and get more than you need!

See I change my mind too much, but I do try and find high end pieces in the charity shop I’ve found a couple of designer bits. I would spend on shoes, as I wear my shoes to death I would invest more in them x

I tend to go for lesser prices items that are a good quality but it’s hard to find a balance between the two – especially when online shopping (my major weakness for just mass-buying things!)

I completely agree with you when it comes to quality, not quantity. I don’t own very many clothes but I can always find new ways to style pieces.

I totally agree with you, it’s so easy to buy cheap clothes with so many fast fashions on the market. I have started to try to pick investment pieces. You have such a lovely style, I really enjoy reading your blog :) X
