Today is my first day back to work after my week off in Turkey – to keep myself upbeat I decided to power dress today. It’s always a little tactic I deploy when I have a busy or stressful day ahead, or i’m feeling slightly under the weather. Dressing up somehow manages to keep you a little more positive and happy.

My outfit today is actually full of new items too which is even better. Before I went away on holiday I ordered myself some Zara treats including this shiny midi skirt and some awesome tartan trousers. If you follow my instagram (here) you’ve probably already seen my trousers as I wore them yesterday for a day out in Richmond.
. Zara Coated Skirt £39.99 . Zara Camisole . Marni Heels . Prada Saffiano Promenade Tote .
I ordered this skirt on a bit of a whim, having absolutely fallen in love with the gold version (but never dared to buy it) I thought this skirt was a great half way house for the funky style. The shimmery teal colour is slightly less daring than the full on gold and was definitely a colour I thought I could embrace.
Having opened my parcel yesterday and immediately pulled the skirt on I was surprisingly chuffed with my decision. Despite being a bold garment, I absolutely loved it. So much so, that I’m wearing it to work today styled with a simple cami and my new Prada Saffiano Promenade bag (SWOON – i’m so in love with this bag right now).
PS: I’ve been working with Sugarhill Boutique on a guest edit piece which has gone live today on their blog. You can check it out here and make sure you stay tuned as I have a little ‘SB’ giveaway for you all coming soon!
What do you think of my rather dressy back to work look? Are you a fan of these bold midi skirts which seem to be popular right now?
