After a weekend spent getting dressed up and having the time to think about what I want to wear for the day (opposed to the weekdays when it’s a sleepy eyed wardrobe raid trying to find anything that remotely fits and requires limited effort or coordination) it’s always a little disheartening when Monday comes around, not merely because it’s Monday of course, but also because my ‘dressing’ time becomes super limited. Often work days become a ‘throw on what’s clean’ or a ‘I just want to be comfortable’ affair, but there’s nothing like dressing nicely for boosting your confidence, happiness & also morale, so I thought it was about time I channelled some of my weekend effort into my weekday wardrobe. And this simple skinny jean, oversized shirt & pump look is an easy winner. Requiring barely any thought, it’s an easy way to still look chic at work despite the fact you managed to get dressed with your eyes still shut.

These skinny jeans are my absolute favourite, a Whistles number which ever since I made the investment has served me well and fast become my favourite fitting jean. The ripped knee’s clearly give it a slightly more ‘fashionable’ vibe than a standard skinny, but it’s subtle enough to be able to pull off at work (assuming there’s no meetings of course). I teamed the skinnies with my new French Connection white shirt last week, this time leaving it untucked and rocking it in all it’s glory. Given the relatively casual vibe of the look, a pair of pumps is the perfect finessing accessory, to make sure it’s professional chic & not ‘i’ve just rolled out of bed’. And of course my Nano transforms the best of looks into a masterpiece with one simple swing over the shoulder.
