This weekend i’ve been a little under the weather suffering with a snotty cold and a sore throat, it’s really not that often that I get ill (I usually seem to have a rather mega defence system) but perhaps with the change of season and a rather busy few weeks my body is starting to feel the strain. When I start to fill a little poorly I always like to take a little more care of myself, not just with hot water bottles, plenty of tea & a bit too much chocolate, but leaning on some trusty beauty products too, to help keep my skin & body feeling and looking healthy.

When stressful times, or seasonal colds hit me, I tend to turn to a few little tricks to pull me back to health. Firstly of course is comfort … hot water bottles, snuggles & lots of my favourite magazines on the sofa, gorgeous smelling candles lit, lots of lemon and honey too and cosy knit jumpers to keep me warm. Secondly follows some health boosting saviours, not only medicine to tackle my cold but plenty of detox & cleansing teas and vitamins to boost my vitamin levels. Thirdly of course, is just a little old pampering. Using wonderfully soothing and relaxing skincare and beauty products to give my skin a well needed health boost & keep myself feeling (and hopefully looking) a little more healthy.
If there are two brands that are currently ticking all my pamper boxes it’s Elemis and Aromatherapy Associates. I actually talked about Elemis last week in a skincare post, but i’ve got even more love for the brand after indulging in a two hour massage and facial last week in their Mayfair day spa. A two hour seriously luxury treatment couldn’t have come at a better time and I left the spa feeling utterly rejuvenated and so relaxed. I’ve had a few massages over the years (i’m a big spa fan) but this treatment has to be one of my absolute best ones yet & after chatting with colleagues at work who’ve also been, they were in complete agreement … I thoroughly recommend it to anyone in need of a little TLC (I was lucky enough to get the Ultimate Spa Experience which included an hours full body massage and an hours facial – heaven). Following from my treatment the staff also tested and reviewed my skin condition and recommended me some products to help keep my skin hydrated and healthy. I was lucky enough to get a little package in the post this week with my recommended products (Cellular recovery capsules to keep my skin hydrated & a lovely Lavender toner to soothe blemishes & ease sensitive areas) which was just what I needed.
Aromatherapy associates products are always relied on for moments when I just want to unwind, relax and treat myself to a little TLC. After getting their de-stress gift set for Christmas from Liza (who noted how stressed I seemed to be at the time) i’ve not stopped loving their products, the candles in particular. If you ever need a little cosy time & some soothing scents to create a little ambience … these are your guys! I already have and love the ‘inner strength’ candle but this week was lucky enough to get the ‘Indulgence’ candle too … i’ve had this lit on my bedside table all weekend. The smells are just incredible and theres nothing better than a candle lit room, a good magazine & some serious down time when you’re feeling a little worn out!!
In true Sunday style, i’ll be spending the day indulging in all my favourite things, pampering myself to health before a busy monday and a flight out to Copenhagen with work.
What are your ‘pamper’ & health care recovery essentials? Have you tried any of the Elemis skincare range or Aromatherapy Associates candles before?

I am a huge Elemis fan, and I had a spa day with some of their products this year which was heavenly. The Herbal Lavender mask is great for detoxing my skin and I use the cleansing balm every night for a facial massage – need another spa day asap!
