. FAVOURITE FOODIE BOOKS .
After last weeks book club, and a fresh look at my current lifestyle and fashion favourites, I thought this week warranted a foodie edit, not least because i’ve got so many new cook books which i’m coveting, and a few more I want to add to my collection!
My cook book collection, for someone who doesn’t really follow a recipe, is quite extensive now, there’s something about a hard back book and glorious pictures of mouthwatering food which I just can’t resist! My penchant for photography and a great photo is only exasperated by cookbooks!
I actually received a few foodie bits for Christmas this year, from Liza, my friend Kate (who actually got me a book as a little promotion present) and my sister (Eat Pretty, which I mentioned in last weeks edit), but have also added another to my collection too (I couldn’t resist the pretty pictures)!
My latest additions are actually all quite different and all offer a slightly different type of cuisine or inspiration which is fab! So without further ado, introducing my current foodie favourites.
. JAMIE OLIVER – COMFORT FOOD .
So first up, Jamie Oliver Comfort Food, if you followed his show last year then you’ll know how oozingly tasty all his food looked, but also how simple & ‘everyday’ each recipe & dish was! I am a big fan of Mr Oliver and his easy style to cooking so this book already captured my interest before I opened the first page. But oh when you open the book, thats when the real excitement hits. Being a big image & photography lover this book by Jamie Oliver ticks all my boxes, beautiful photos, artistic and great shots & completely inspiring throughout! Every page makes your mouth water, and that’s just looking at a picture!
The book retails at around £21 but I managed to pick this up in Tesco for £12 which was an absolute bargain! Now my kitchen is fully kitted in Jamie Oliver kitchen wear (I got spoilt with it this Christmas) it’s only right that I start knocking up some of his dishes!
I’m planning to up my foodie section on my blog this year, so i’ll look to share some successful recipes & dishes soon!
. HUGH FEARNLEY WHITTINGSTALL – FRUIT | VEG | LIGHT & EASY .
Second up, and probably the biggest part of my foodie edit is Mr Hugh Fearnley Whittinsgtall and his infamous collection of foodie books! It’s not just Jamie Oliver who knows how to captivate an audience with some beautiful imagery & some cool ‘art deco’ editorial design, all three of Hugh’s books are stunning to look at, interesting to read & jam packed full of delicious (quite healthy) recipes which could suit any occasion!
I was super lucky to have been bought all three of Hugh’s books this Christmas by Liza, we’d been talking about his recipes & a few dishes from his books before Christmas, so I was super chuffed to open my pressies to find his entire collection ready for me to devour!
What I like the most about these cook books is that they’re extremely specific, detailed & jam packed with a million recipes, dishes & food ideas! Each book completely masters a food genre, which means you get a seriously good collection of recipes to test out. The Veg book makes becoming a vegetarian a seriously easy concept, I for one am a big salad / vegetable eater, so discovering so many new, exciting and delicious ways to prepare my vegetables or vegetarian dishes is brilliant.
The Fruit recipe book is visually one of my favourites, it’s full of colour, funky fonts & pretty pictures, with the entire book categorised by a fruit itself. Each fruit section has a mix of savoury & sweet recipes and covers a range of Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner / Snack recipes which is brilliant. It really opens your eyes to the different ways you can use fruit in your cooking, and is a great go to book if you’re looking to cook seasonally or incorporate a certain fruit into your meal!
The final book is Hughs Light & Easy book, and this is yet another hard back jam packed with hundreds more recipes. This recipe book does exactly what it says on the tin and is the perfect book to look for when you’re in need of dinner inspiration or even dinner party food ideas. The thing I love about this book is that each dish is healthy & something you could quite easily make during the week for one or two people, and not just a seriously big feast!
I am so excited to start making food from his cookbooks, and I’ve already noticed a few other bloggers who’ve been cooking up gastronomic delights from Hugh’s books (the lunch time vegetable noodles in a jar is a very popular one)! I am hoping to share some of these dishes in my foodie section too!
. MIILI TAYLOR – PARTY PERFECT BITES .
The final book in todays edit is a little book which was probably made for me, as the canapé queen, this book is exactly up my street! A seriously comprehensive list of perfect canapés and party bites for every occasion! I love a good party tea and canapés are my favourite part of any party (ahem), so this cook book is perfect for me! I am frequently whipping up canapés for friends and family and so I can’t wait to add some new pieces to my canapé repertoire (currently asparagus & palma ham, sausage rolls, salmon bellini’s and prawn volovants are my firm favourites to make)!
. SHOP MORE OF MY FAVE FOODIE BOOKS HERE .
So there you have it, three very different foodie books, party food, home comfort feasts & healthy day to day foodie inspirations! I’d love to hear if you’ve got any of these or tried any recipes, plus of course if there are any other books you’d recommend I read (i’m going to buy Hemsley & Hemsley soon as that book looks amazing too)

As someone who still lives at home, I’ve only got one cookbook (from Sorted food) so far but I think you may have just inspired a few new purchases! That Party Perfect Bites books looks amazing but I think Jamie’s book might be a bit more appropriate for me right now!
