HOW TO GIVE YOUR BLOG A BOOST THIS NEW YEAR

. BOOSTING YOUR BLOG IN 2016: SIMPLE IDEAS TO GIVE YOUR BLOG A REFRESH & YOUR CONTENT A BOOST IN THE NEW YEAR .

The new year is always a time for fresh starts, resolutions & a time for change. When it comes to blogging, as with all aspects of life, the new year provides a chance to take check, reflect on what has happened in the year that has passed and start thinking about changes for the year ahead. I’ve already had a think about blogging in 2016 and what I think might be to come (you can read that here), but today I thought I’d share a few simple ways to give your blog a little new years boost in 2016.

. 5 WAYS TO GIVE YOUR BLOG A BOOST THIS NEW YEAR .

#1 DESIGN REFRESH

Whilst consistent branding & style is key in the blogging world, actually taking time to implement a little design refresh is a really excellent and relatively simple way of giving your blog a little refresh and boost for the new year. It doesn’t need to be major changes & a full site design, but even simple tweaks to your pages, your logo or simply your colour palette can make a huge amount of difference, and ensure you start the new year feeling newly motivated & ignited.

#2 NEW CONTENT

Perhaps even more simple that making some design tweaks, is simply thinking about new content genres and themes you might be interested in writing about for the future. Often with blogging we can become a little habitual with the topics we write about & have passion for (I for one feel this way), but the new year is a great time to reassess, review & implement new ideas. I always like to spend some time reading through old content when I have spare time, and ideating new content ideas. For me, i’ve already decided that travel & lifestyle features are something i’d like to do more of in the new year. Why not take some time this new year to have a think about new ideas you’d like to implement on your blog in 2016.

#3 PHOTOGRAPHY

Photography is one of my favourite things about blogging, and every year I like to embark on a new photography challenge, whether it’s a new camera, a quest to learn more, or simply just a chance to get inspired for the sort of photography and imagery I’d like to feature on my blog. Alongside my shift to more lifestyle and travel content here on mediamarmalade, I always want to give my photography a little boost too … trying out new shooting styles (especially street style), shooting with new compositions & even just photographing new things. I’ve already begun experimenting recently (have you noticed?) but I’ll be using the new year to really push things a little further too! For me photography & content are really easy things to change or adapt to really give your blog a boost in the new year.

#4 SOCIAL BRAND

Every year I say to myself I will spend more time mastering my social brand, joining the community more, attending more events (my biggest struggle with being a full time blogger and a full time career girl is attending all the events I’m invited to), and generally just being a little more social than I’ve been able to be this year. The new year is a great time to start a fresh, and so for me, upping my social brand in 2016 is going to be key! I’ve already got into a new groove with instagram and feel really happy with my feed & style right now (it’s only taken 3 years),  and I hope that in turn my renewed efforts will help grow my social channels too!

Putting a little love into your social channels, is a really easy way of re energising yourself & in turn boosting your blog!

#5 CONTINUE TO OPTIMISE

But for me, the most important factor in boosting my blog in the new year, is to not simply leave this to 1st January. For me, it’s really important to continually optimise, evolve & implement change, and in fact this year i’ve done just that, with a blog redesign, a shift in content towards tips & career advice, and as mentioned a little creativity refresh too in the last month or so. Much like the phrase, a dog isn’t just for Christmas, it’s for life …. well so is a blog (wow, tenuous link). Don’t just think of the new year as a time for change & boosting your blog, you can make changes & take time to feel inspired all year round. And given how quickly this industry moves, continually optimising, feeling inspired & challenging yourself is key to keeping ahead.

hello! I’m new to your blog but LOVING IT!
I have the same camera also. Can I ask what other lenses you have other than the pancake as I want to get a new one for street style shots for that lovely bokeh effect.

      thank you!
