Time To Master Summer Holiday Style. What To Pack, What To Wear & How To Style It.
The countdown officially begins, this time next week i’ll be jetting to 36 degree heat in sunny cyprus for 2 weeks of serious rejuvenation. And i cannot wait. I absolutely adore summer holidays (don’t we all) but for me the thought of two weeks of down time, some serious sunshine and a chance just to truly relax is like euphoria … oh and of course the excuse to top up my summer wardrobe is a brucey bonus too. And when it comes to holiday style there are certainly some essentials every girls wardrobe needs and some holiday and travelling style tricks it’s always worth knowing before hand.
STYLE TIPS FOR HOLIDAY DRESSING
Pre Plan Outfits & Fill Gaps
This first point is one of those situations where I wish I took my own advice. I’ve travelled a lot over the years, and one thing I’ve definitely learnt is that pre planning outfits is the key to optimal packing & maximum styling whilst you’re abroad, not only that, it’s critical to ensuring you don’t rinse the budget before you’ve even arrived (on holiday clothes shopping, duh). When it comes to holiday preparation, shopping is definitely one of the perks, but there’s most definitely a risk of going overboard on the ordering, panic buying and not necessarily buying items that can create actual looks for whilst you’re away. Top tip, think about your outfits & plans before you go, and invest in items that fill gaps & create new looks, as opposed to just hauling everything & anything you see (ahem).
Save baggage space & Maximise combinations
And on that point, when it comes to holiday packing, think ahead about what outfits you will want to wear, and then think about how you can maximise each item. Mix & matching items to create multiple looks is such a great way of maximising luggage space but also for providing yourself with lots of styling options when you’re away. Take this skirt for example, it looks fab with a white blouse and casual sandal for daytime look, but add a pair of strappy stilettos and swap in a camisole top & voila, you’re ready for cocktails on the beach … oh and lets not forget the beach opportunities, a wrap around skirt flung over your bikini is the perfect beach look.
Layering is the key to modesty
When you spend 10 hours a day laying in a bikini it’s easy to forget that covering up is normal behaviour, but in a lot of countries and cultures, covering up is absolutely essential and in some cases mandatory. In the middle east and some eastern european countries, maintaining your modesty when you are exploring and out and about is a must, and this is where layering is your life saviour. Whether its a pashmina, a light weight blazer, a chic billowy blouse or a couple of long sleeve layers, ensuring you bring a few ‘modest’ layering items with you on holiday is key.
Accessories have never been more important
They might be a nightmare to pack, but fill your boots with summer accessories because a holiday is the ultimate chance to give that straw hat, those summer sandals, your new designer shades & a whole array of handbags the catwalk they deserve. More than that, accessories are more essential than ever on holiday (a hat to protect you from the sun, a beach bag to hold all your beach wear), practical and fashionable.
