Knee Length Skirts. How old am I?
But seriously whilst my inner youth is crying out at this mummsy style move, my nearly thirty year old self is loving the discovery. The truth is the knee length skirt is the perfect, modest, capsule item that I think we all need in our wardrobes. First off, rocking a mini to work is something reserved for my early twenties, I no longer rock the length like I used to and my gym deprived body just needs a little modesty. Secondly, it’s not just about modesty, it looks professional, chic and offers me that girl boss feeling I often want in my work wear. And thirdly, when you find a knee length skirt as cute and feminine as this Riviera inspired number, who could refuse anyway? Right?
I’ve found my wardrobe gradually filling up with more and more cropped, midi, maxi and knee length items. Even this morning I popped on my favourite suede mini skirt which a year ago I’d wear to work all the time and ended up disregarding it for a more modest length … whether it’s my age and profession (and the realisation that my body ain’t so rockin’ in a mini anymore), the cyclical change in trends (the mini seems to have passed in favour of cropped lenths this season) or simply that there’s something so riviera chic about a classic skirt like this … I’ve definitely fallen head over heels for the knee length skirt.
WHAT I’M WEARING
. KAREN MILLEN KNEE LENGTH SKIRT . ZARA STRIPED TIE BLOUSE (SIMILAR). ASPINAL TRAVEL CLUTCH . FRENCH CONNECTION SANDALS . REISS PANAMA . KAREN WALKER SUNGLASSES .
This riviera inspired white lace knee length skirt is a little number from Karen Millen, a brand I’ve rediscovered recently and one that certainly serves up its fair share of awesome skirts (did you see this one too). I love the feminine style, classic cut and utterly glamorous feel. It’s the perfect look for events like Ascot and the Polo, but equally looks ace teamed with a little shirt like this for work too. That’s the beauty of the cut, it’s easily styled up or down and looks sophisticated regardless of the occasion. I personally teamed the skirt with my new blue striped Zara tie blouse (a fab colour combo I think), my tan french connection sandals and my new pastel blue Aspinal travel clutch. The look was probably one of my favourite looks from my holiday & something i’ve already recreated since being back in the UK too.
How do you feel about the over knee skirt? I’d love to know if you too rock the cut?

I used to be all about minis but now I’m getting more into longer lengths too! It usually looks much more elegant and no fear of flashing when a sudden burst of wind hits! :) xx
