HOW TO DRESS LIKE A GIRL BOSS THIS SUMMER; 3 THINGS YOU NEED IN YOUR WARDROBE

Dress like a girl boss with these three wardrobe staples!

Dressing for work in the summer is always a challenge (let alone trying to dress like a girl boss), whether it’s mastering that post holiday outfit (modest enough for the office, yet revealing enough to showcase that holiday glow), tackling office wear in a heatwave, trying to find summer styles that work for the office or ways to style this seasons hottest trends for work, or simply just finding inspiration each morning. I for one can find the juggling act difficult.  Not least because I want to feel comfortable as well as look like a Girl Boss whilst I’m at it. This summer though I have discovered the ultimate in chic office wardrobe essentials (so much so I’ve bought them all in multiple colours already). And that’s what I wanted to share with you today:

The Boyfriend Blazer

The boyfriend blazer adds an androgynous edge to a work look (something I love and a style I take a lot of inspiration from), it’s sophisticated and is the ultimate layer to finish off a work look (working perfectly with feminine dresses or trouser looks like mine). My buying tips are to opt for crisp lines, quality material and an oversized fit, it’s the masculine touch that makes this item a favourite.

The Culotte

The culotte is the new LBD if you ask me, and not just in the bloggersphere either, IRL I’ve seen so many people (including myself) rocking the culotte this summer, from subtle cropped legs, to overt oversized ankles. There are so many takes on the culotte this season that there’s a cut, fit and style for everyone. This white & navy striped pair from Topshop (as well as this Scotch & Soda pair which I also own) are a really easy transition into the trend, not too bold yet still a seasonal favourite.

The Statement Bag

If you know me at all then you’ll know how much I champion a good bag, and a good designer accessory is what I covet the most. It doesn’t have to be all Chanel & Chloe though, finding a quality, chic and statement bag is the easiest way to add a little #GirlBoss swag to any outfit. I personally have been travelling a lot lately and so my new Aspinal travel clutch has been locked to my arm (not least because it was the ultimate in colour coordination), but a good leather tote, a classic laptop case or a statement designer bag is an easy way to dress like a girl boss this summer and transition your look from average to punchy.

But the key to dressing like a girl boss, looking great and looking confident, is of course feeling comfortable. The reason this combination works so well for me is that it covers my sins (butt), accentuates my assets (waist) and fits loosely enough to not make me feel self conscious (a key factor in me feeling comfortable and confident) The statement clutch, summer sandal, and blogger shade are just the finishing touches.
