How I Transition into Fall with the Classic Jumper Dress

Fashion week has officially transitioned us from Summer to Autumn. Whilst in my personal opinion September should be full of sunshine, floaty dresses and evenings spent in the garden, this year we’ve transitioned pretty speedily into Autumnal weather and darker evenings. And despite my adoration for the Summer, I feel ready for comfier clothes, cosier outfits and a little bit of knitwear again. Because transitional weather in reality is one of my favourites to dress for.  Theres something about the mixing and matching of summer favourites with winter warmers (like I did in this look here) and pulling outfits with lots of layering that makes me feel not only super comfy  but also confident in my outfits too. It’s not quite summer nakedness and not fully winter hibernation, it’s that lovely balance of both.

This look sums up my transitional style pretty well. A last season Winter favourite (a knitted jumper dress from Cos) teamed with bare legs and my favourite sandals from this summer. In my opinion the jumper dress is the ultimate way to transition your wardrobe from summer into winter, or winter into summer. Warm enough to deal with the Autumnal air, but embracing the last (or beginning) of summer with the bare legs & open toes … the perfect look for a leisurely Saturday spent brunching and jumping from coffee shop to coffee shop.

And as things get a little nippier, simply add a chic pair of knee high boots, or a thick pair of tights & a nice suede boot.
