THE OFF DUTY WARDROBE
And is now the time to invest in one?
Most my wardrobe is purchased for the office AND the weekend, pieces that deliver on a multitude of requirements! I’m usually not one to shop seasonally nor for occasions, my wardrobe is one big jungle of garments that I love and wear whenever I so fancy. Most my wardrobe only requires slight styling tweaks to be office ready versus suitable for the weekend!
That being said, there are some pieces I simply fall in love with which deliver more towards one end of the spectrum or the other – the £300 cocktail dress that you know won’t work for the office ever, but every girl needs a cocktail dress at the ready. Right. And also today’s garment of choice, a bright red jumpsuit which I have fallen head over heels with. Off duty perfection but perhaps one you’d leave out of the work equation?
The chances of me rocking this statement piece for work is relatively slim – the bold colour and relaxed fit make it somewhat of a brave choice! But for the weekends, this jumpsuit has become partner number one.
Comfortable, light weight and undeniably cool (at least in my eyes it is). It’s the perfect off duty jumpsuit and an ideal holiday wardrobe investment. And with the summer gradually sneaking into the UK right now it was the perfect slightly more seasonal buy! Don’t get me wrong if confidence was in full flow, with a chic black mule & cropped black leather jacket, you never know it could well make an office appearance, but generally this garment was purchased for off duty wear at it’s heart.
And that’s why an off duty wardrobe is something i’m converting towards, the benefits of those throw on pieces far outweigh the loss of versatility and maximising cost per wear. Sometimes a piece is too good to refuse just because it isn’t ‘capsule’ enough! Don’t you agree?
OFF DUTY JUMPSUITS TO INVEST IN THIS SUMMER
Zara is one of those stores I always find myself justifying ‘off duty’ or ‘holiday’ purchases from. The fast fashion pricing and on trend styling means I’m constantly picking up a dress / jumpsuit or two for such a low cost that even If I can only wear it on holiday it’s worth the investment. This jumpsuit is only one of the many purchases i’ve been making from Zara’s new season collection lately – you can see a sneak peak of a few more of my buys on my instagram. I’ve been loving the billowy sizing, bold colours and little touches (the pom pom sleeves are one of my fave bits of this jumpsuit).
And whilst I might not be maximising my usual cost per wear ambitions through a work, to night, to weekend, to holiday styling mission. At around £30 i’m happy to have a few off duty pieces that immediately get me in the holiday spirit!
Do you have separate off and on duty wardrobes? Do you invest in weekend only pieces ever? Could you be tempted into a little ‘off duty’ only purchase too?

Cutest jumpsuit – love the way you paired it with trainers too! I’ve never really liked Zara’s products as much as other people have because I find ALL their sizes too big (some of the kid’s sizes are big for me!) so the brand’s growing into me!

As soon as I saw the little pom poms on the sleeves I was sold without even scrolling down to see the culotte style bottom half, which I LOVE! This is such a dreamy piece. I tend to have just a couple of ‘office only’ or ‘off-duty only’ but the bulk of my wardrobe can work for both with the right styling. I think I need to get this jumpsuit, I’m in love.
