A WINDSTORM IN PRIMROSE HILL
Attempting To Take Outfit Pictures & Share My New Buys With You
If any of you are bloggers or photographers, you’ll appreciate the pain of trying to take outfit pictures in gail-force winds and freezing conditions. No matter how hard I tried to bring my inner Alexa Chung to the scene for these shots (how do so many models look incredible in those papped street style shots, seriously, teach me your ways), I looked like a windswept, haggard, very angry wench.
Of course, when the shots weren’t quite working, arguments then ensued with Jase who was impatiently just trying to speed along the situation so we could eat lunch. It was the perfect storm. My end result was a collection of windswept and frowning shots, with a few ‘only just passable’ ones in between.
It’s so funny how conditions can make or break a picture in my opinion, especially my personal satisfaction with my own outfit pictures. Sunshine is my absolute dream. Natural light, in my opinion, creates the perfect backdrop to any photo, it glosses over wrinkles & frown lines, it illuminates your outfit for a shot with total clarity, and it just looks magical. These shots, for example were just so quick and easy to shoot, yet are some of my favourite ever photos, because the setting, conditions and light were just perfection. I know loads of blogging friends who hate shooting with sunlight preferring shade or overcast days and it always makes me chuckle how different our favourite conditions are. It’s also ironic as I always adore their photos, but if i was shooting in those conditions they just wouldn’t come out the same!
BUT, in light of my quest for more everyday relatable posts, I persevered in the wind storm and in low light conditions because I wanted to share this look with you. AND despite the fact my normal quality control parameters wouldn’t let these visuals pass. New me is saying what the heck … i hope you’ll like them despite them being less than ‘perfect’ by my normal standards.
SHOP MY LOOK
. WHISTLES STIRRUP JEANS . WHISTLES JOYEUX TEE . ZARA BLAZER (OLD / SIMILAR) . AND OTHER STORIES BOOTS . GUCCI MARMONT SHOULDER BAG .
There’s nothing all that remarkable about my outfit, sure, but it does actually include three new buys which I thought it worthy with sharing with you. Plus we took the pictures in Primrose Hill which you won’t believe was my first time visiting the village despite having lived in london nearly 10 years. As I had imagined, i fell in love immediately and vowed to visit every Sunday!
Anyway back to the look, it wasn’t only my Primrose Hill virginity, it was also my new Gucci Marmont’s official debut in the real world (an exciting and momentous occasion I’m sure you can appreciate). I decided to sport two new sales buys from Whistles for the occasion (last minute sales bargains i picked up a week or so ago), the stirrup jeans and joyeux tee which just make the perfect ‘basics’ for my weekend attire, justified by my newly tidied (and emptied) wardrobe.
On the latter point, it was such a good way to start the new year having a proper wardrobe clear out and total reorganization of my wardrobe and belongings, for those following on the gram you may have seen the before & after on my stories. Now i’m ready to fill it back up again …

Taking outfit photos is my absolute least favourite thing about blogging. I hate being photographed. But pushing yourself past comfort zone is good, I have heard?

Taking blogging pics is a bit of a nightmare. I stood in the cold wind in my sports bra, i’ve never been so efficient! I find i’m very self conscious especially as I sometimes do my own. Hopefully confidence will come.
Loving your posts and Instagram x
