SURVIVING THE ‘BETWEEN SEASON’ FASHION LULL

February 19, 2018

A NEW STYLE STAPLE (THAT’S GIVING MY WARDROBE A NEW LEASE OF LIFE)

And How I’m Surviving The ‘Between Season’ Fashion Lull

I always find the period post Christmas and pre Spring a bit of a wardrobe lull, the high street is still riding high on sales deals and old season stock they’re trying to flog for a pretty penny, and new season stock is drip fed with a pace that only the most patient of us could tolerate. Like a heroin addict drip fed methadone when all they really want is the real thing in one go,  a weird analogy for a Monday morning I appreciate, but you know what I mean right? Ahem …

This time of year is a fast for fashion, ironic because it’s also fashion week and a time when fashion people want to look new and fabulous. Whilst I’m less for the latter, I have found myself longing for new season stock, refreshing the new in sections daily in the hope that one new item may have arrived. It’s sad really. But after a mass wardrobe clear out post Christmas and the over reliance on my winter fail safe of jeans and a jumper I’ve been desperate for a style fix and something NEW in my wardrobe.

Fortunately my over zealous checking of new season stock has paid off with a few new purchases I’ve made this year to date (all of which by the way you can shop here), but perhaps my favourite new purchase is my And Other Stories leather trousers. A quest and mission that took approximately 6 months to complete (honestly my trials and tribulations of leather trousers shopping are beyond imagination – but that’s a story I’m saving for another time) but now that I’ve found the ‘perfect pair’ is a mission i’m rejoicing in.

And best of all it’s given my wardrobe the new lease of life it was so desperately needing …

Needless to say I’ve been cherishing the updates to my wardrobe, and can’t wait to share more of my new season buys in outfit pics with you on here shorty. But for now, today’s look de jour, my new leather trousers, a classic cos tee (the best white tees I’ve found) & my new boxy Next Blazer. A new take on my style staple (denim jeans, tee & blazer) to tide me over until the full Spring / Summer shopping commences & giving my wardrobe a new years spruce up.

I’m out for a celebratory dinner with my bosses to celebrate my promotion tonight, so it felt like the perfect occasion to rock my new pantaloons and of course master the day to night transitional work look for the first time this year so far.

Love that blazer! I’ve been wanting more professional looking clothing lately, but that’s also stylish and the blazer definitely ticks both boxes!

Maybe it’s time to discover some little brands? :)

I also find this time of year so odd! It’s not super cold but it’s not warm yet! everything seem so strange! I love your styling though – it’s perfect. Gorgeous blazer and love the pops of red!

God I feel you on the between season lull – I am so ready to stock up a new spring wardrobe (although my bank account maybe isnt). Love those trousers, I recently bought some faux leather ones from H&M and they’ve been so useful in the past few weeks xxx

Love your styling of the leather pants, that little touch of rock in an otherwise classic look x
